Safeway Sunshine Hills

This Safeway is close to me and convenient but it isn’t the same as years ago unfortunately. Long lineups always and never enough staff, food is always moved to different aisles . Hard to find products , meats limited selection if you come too late in day . No good sales anymore . Staff are ok , old timers working there are of course always nice , friendly. Newer staff lucky if you get a hello . Last time the cashier didn’t even ask if I had scene card but yet she asked person ahead of me . Place definitely needs improvement. It’s close by to many people and location is what is keeping this place going .

Just stood in 2 cashier lines, first one for 10 minutes and the cashier announced they were closing after the person ahead of us and couldn’t find his closed sign. Second line after another 10 minutes advised us that the $500 in gift cards we wanted to buy we couldn’t because they were not processing gift cards today. So I guess Save on Foods gets our business from now on. Won’t spend 20 minutes in line at North Delta Safeway ever again.

Compared to their competitors Safeway has the highest quality and the highest prices but sometimes they put a product on special for a very low price. Check flyer every week go for the specials.

Barb was very helpful when she saw my arm in a sling. Very personable. You don't get friendliness like that anymore.

Amazing staff, friendliest grocery store I have been to. First time there and was very pleased, usually go to Langley location and staff is not the nicest at times. Bakery was amazing, different cakes and pastries, more selection than other locations. Will be back.

This used to be my go-to grocery store but things have definitely declined over the past years even prior to Covid impacts. I know being short staffed and going through Covid creates a lot of stress but it is sad to see what has happened to this store. Most team members don't even say hello and lack that customer focus I believe that they are newer staff but I can see frustration in more tenured staff too. One of the managers shorter Caucasian male with glasses has been rude and abrupt with many customers I've seen it happen a number of times and have also seen him swearing under his breath. A lot of products are not available based on the time that you go too. At one point, I saw a customer being wrongfully accused of budging in the check out line up. Instead of the cashier saying it to the individual directly, she started saying it to the customer that she was serving at that time which is ridiculous. Luckily, the customer being accused addressed it with her and luckily I was there to support the truth. The customer did not receive any sort of apology. Unfortunately, this is the case for many grocery stores in the area. Safeway just used to be levels above other stores.

Very bad service. Like a trash !! When my workmate use gift card from company to buy gas card, the checkout guy said he can not buy a gas card with giftcard. Then he asked GM and finally bought couple. Today I did same way, the check out lady keeping saying no for gas card and I said please call your manager. I understand she may not know they change the rule, but she keep saying no until I said please call your manager for 4-6 times. Then from another check out line, a man may called Travis? said he is manager and told me I can’t use gift card to buy the gas card. So I walked to his line and talked with him about my workmate experience. When I talk to him, he did not listen to me and keep his working and talking to another customers. This is a manager how respect their customers? Good job! I always go to this market for lunch but from now, I would say bye to this store. If a manager disrespect his customers like this, you will never get any respect from me!

We have found the prices at Safeway have come down. Our closest Safeways have either become Freshco or closed. I am not impressed with the change over from Air Miles to the Scene for rewards but time will tell I'd it improves.

Some good deals but the basic necessities like milk butter is ridiculously priced way too high.
