The people who work there are great but I’m sick and tired of occasionally forgetting to check a expiry date and getting home only to discover expired food. It’s unacceptable and a huge inconvenience if I bring it back. Safeway has a bad rep for this and I’ve experienced it several of their stores so I’m always usually careful to check if I shop there but now I’m mad. It’s just too many times. They are very close to me but quality and freshness over convenience.

I love this friendly neighbourhood Safeway in Lynn Valley. There have been rumours since Safeway was bought out by Sobey’s that the store would close. I hope not, as it would be real disservice to the community to lose a store which practices that service as a priority. The building hasn’t been upgraded, but it is always clean, good selection and good prices. There is a boutique-type Save-on-Foods supermarket in the same mall but it is unfriendly and expensive, and would not even be my 2nd choice for groceries.
