They INSIST on you using there single-use plastic bags, and I simply cannot support that.nnI have mobility issues, and struggle with driving more so than walking, so I have to walk to grocery stores, even though some days I can't.nnI have my own shopping cart, so as I can take it home. No way I would survive if I had to carry bags all the way back. Last time I was there, a man told me I couldn't use my own cart and had to use there's, so as it would be harder for me to steal. I understand the basic concept, but at the same time, its a small store, and I need to bring my own cart with me, so I would have to adapt to using two shopping carts in a small space I'm always pausing and almost tripping in. I would be embarrassed taking up that much space, but it would have been doable.nnToday, I was too sick to get food myself, so my mom had to get everything for me. I gave her more than enough cloth bags to get everything I needed for the week, but she comes home with most of the cloth bags empty, and the ones that aren't have several plastic bags full of produce in them.nnThat is not an innocent mistake. No one would ever do that because they are stupid, so I ask her why the hell she did that.nnShe told me that an employee told her that cloth bags aren't allowed. That since they are opaque, she could steal, and she needed to use clear plastic ones.nn?????!?!?!?!?!???!?!?!????!?!?!nnBrother. It is produce. It is bought by weight. The bag will be placed onto the counter, and the cashier has to look in and see what's in there before a costumer even has the option to legally pay the listed price. You don't have self-checkout. Nobody is going to enter the wrong code on purpose, and the difference between catching them or not is certainly not going to be how translucent there bag was on the grainy security camera footage.nnEven if you did have self checkout, I specifically have vision issues, and cannot see at all when there are artificial lights around. Not only does that mean I specifically am not a threat, it also makes it SUPER dangerous for me to cross all the extra roads I would need to in order to get to other grocery stores. Especially since the crosswalks in the area don't beep.nnIt's a shame. I did like this store. It was the closest to me, which is more important for me than most It always had fresh food and better prices than the competition.nnBut the unintended ableism makes it hard to support, and the VERY MUCH intended mandate of single use plastics is a deal-breaker.nnI hope the store can employ better security measures, or at least convince that one guy to calm down a little, and I could shop here again, but until then, I unfortunately need to rate low
It used to be a good store. Now everything is going down. Specially the Boucher shop. They sell the lowest quality meats. So disappointed. the sheep meat is still is not chewable after even 6 hours of cooking.
I've had a wonderful experience at the Persia Foods store, especially at the Landsdale Ave branch. The personnel were so kind and polite. They've had high-quality, fresh products with low prices all over Vancouver.
It has persian food so it's a specialty store and that is the only thing that is good about it. Prices are really hight and always very busy. There's another store about a block away but I haven't tried it. That's my next stop, though.
I just purchased lump sugar from this store, and to my surprise, it was expired by a couple of months! Unbelievable!!!nThey haven't noticed and removed it from their shelves!nThis raises serious concerns about their quality control.
