During my recent visit to the Alberta Royal Museum with family, I had the pleasure of experiencing the Discover Angkor exhibit, a captivating journey into the rich history and culture of the ancient Empire. The museum’s layout is also well thought out, with clear signage and a natural flow that makes it easy to navigate. The lighting and presentation are top-notch, ensuring that the artifacts and artworks are displayed in the best possible way, while creating a serene atmosphere.Worth the money IMO..
Beautiful Angkor exhibit. The sacred meteor was such an amazing thing to see. At first I thought it was a replica but seeing the beautiful display made me realize it’s actually real. I wish there was even more indigenous detail about it and the relationship between the museum and the people.nnSuper friendly staff. $0.25 lockers for your heavy winter jacket. Lovely gift shop. Last half hour is free if you don’t check the hours like us.
Dany and Peter from the bug exhibit were phenomenal. Truly kind, caring, and passionate individuals overflowing with knowledge for insects. They love these creatures like people love their children and you can feel it in the way they care for and educate about them. It was such an incredible treat to have seen all the bugs and gotten to learn about them from these two! So important for kids and adults to learn about the creatures that we share the world with, and to respect and preserve them.nnThe rest of the museum was very well curated too. Seeing artifacts from long long ago always makes me well up for some reason. Being able to learn about people and civilizations who came before us all and being in the same room as these ancient pieces creates a palpable energy. It's such a privilege that this museum is so wonderful and at such an accessible price too.
Very nice museum. Clean modern and well put together. You have to use public parking and there is a drop off entrance for people with mobility issues. CFone and their family get in for free. They have a canteen and vending machine if you’re in a pinch for a snack. Lockers for your stuff just $.25. The exhibits were great kids 6-9 loved the children’s place and then free activities. Pete presented a live snake and Dany was in the bug exhibit and both were so great knowledgeable and very well spoken.
We had a great time looking through the exhibits, and the staff are very helpful. We needed a wheelchair to use in the museum, and it was easy to borrow one while we were there. My son got a picture in front of the entrance to the Cambodia exhibit, which is going out soon. We also loved the various aquariums! Wonderful!
