I think Richie Brothers do a bunch of work talking you in to signing with them and then the work stops once papers are signed. I would also give some serious thought, if you are selling property with these clowns to have a reserve bid, to make sure you have the ability to walk away when they sell your grandparents whole life for nothing. If I could have given them a half of a star I would have.
I had a Ritchie Bros. farm auction on Apr. 12-2021 at Wainwright. I received absolutely no help washing or cleaning equipment for the sale. Their efforts were initial visit, taking pictures at their convenience, a little bit of help & consultation lining up items for sale, advertising and showing up for less than 2 and 3/4 hours the day of the sale, leaving immediately after. I had to make sure that the equipment was accurately described. I was totally the one that helped buyers get and load their purchases. Their deposit and settlement system was not user friendly and some buyers spent hours to do what should have taken minutes. They did however have one woman in the office named Judy that was super. When I signed the agreement with RB there was no buyer's fee. In January 2021 RB instituted a buyer's fee at a time when their expenses were rock bottom due to online sales. A buyers fee can cause people to bid less. Choosing RB was one of the worst decisions of my 52 year farming career.
Too commercial. Friendly and helpful staff. Items generally sell too high. Better off to go to a dealer where they can guarantee the product. Bought a $500 diesel generator that was a paperweight. Tossed away in the junk pile. Never ran even though they claimed it did. Spent $200 on parts to fix and still wouldn't work. Had electronic issues not worth fixing. Ritchie's never compensated for item. Said it was in working order.
We bought an item at their recent auction. So many hidden fees and charges. Horrible customer service. The lady was so rude on the phone and just kept telling us to check the website. We told her we did, but the website is terrible hard to navigate and we needed help. Just basic questions and she wouldn't give us the time of day. Then after being harrassed that we need to pick it up within a day, we had to sit for 2+ hours in the yard waiting to get loaded. We will NEVER use a richie online auction again. Terrible experience.
As I look down the row of previous reviews, I'm already extremely disappointed to see the many hours that people wait to pick up their items & get loaded. Almost every review has a buyer with a story of frustration for loading. I sure hope they have it resolved by the March 1- 3 auction. I picked out a couple of new pallet jacks that were supposed to be in the March 1-3 auction. When I went to bid, they have mysteriously disappeared & now there are only a couple of used ones. What happened Ritchie Bros?
Bought a lot of battery chargers at the June sale in Edmonton None worked. Called Ritchies and was passed on to different people and none of the returned my calls I just bought a load of junk
Huge yard. Nice people tell you where to go to pick up your purchases. Always good to deal with.

This place is and has always been a joke when it comes to there pick up entrance. 2 lanes and absolutely NO coordination. One lane will move while the other is not moving for an 30 min and then the other will move while the first line doesn’t move for ages. You have to wonder if these people are incompetent or just clueless?! It’s always a bad experience coming here. They just have no idea what they are doing. Before you arrive make sure you have plenty of patiences.
Verry heplful people. Stramlined procces to take possesion of the lot. Oh, and nice people
