A smaller park not too far from downtown in the NW. It is perfect for families and anyone who wants to relax in the sun, but it's not big enough for biking or going for a walk. It's quite pretty. There are flowers, a wading pool, The Calgary & District Cricket League founded 1908 and now the Riley Park Bandshell. I definitely recommend it as long as you're okay with lots of people.
Riley parks wading pool is amazing for all ages ! There is grass area to set up blankets and towels, lots of trees for shade. Small grass area/island in the middle of the pool. Washrooms available, a few picnic tables near the washrooms. The wading pool is fenced in, outside the fence there's lots of green space and a playground . Parking is very reasonable priced .
This is a beautiful park. It's located in the community of Hillhurst. The park plays host to Calgary's Cricket League and Calgary Concert Band holds free concerts in the park in the summer. There are lots of picnic tables, a nice sized playground for children and there is also a little splash pool for children with bathrooms. An ice cream truck is always nearby in the summer. The flower garden in the park is amazing.
Very good place for all aged. Beautiful play ground, clean green field and water pool.
There was more parking than I expected. Everything seemed well used, but clean and maintained. Public bathrooms weren’t super accessible, they have tight corners and narrow halls, but for everyone else they were useable. Sharps bin was provided.
Free access to a wading pool, a cricket pitch, a lovely flower garden, and a playground. It can get pretty busy, and you will need to be aware of the occasional bandaid in the water, but overall a fantastic inner Calgary spot to enjoy a summer day. Highly recommend. When you are done, check out Another Dimension Comics, just across the street. And if you are hungry, Sidewalk Citizen is a minute past AD, a great market/bakery. Aug 7 2022 update: Still awesome. Bring water guns, camping chairs, grub and good company. Now you've got a stew going.
This is THE best park, ever! It is huge, beautiful, practical and hard to leave. The wading pool is a gem - large, not too deep, and spacious for the many kids who enjoy the water here. The surrounding grassy areas are perfect for supervising little ones and enjoying the scenery and the cricket games that take place nearby. An ice cream vendor is often set up on site, and one can park adjacent to the pool. Washrooms are also available. There is a memorial rock garden on site that we did not see, but we did enjoy the endless treed grounds, large gazebo used for various events, and ultra modern playground area, in addition to the farmers market across the street and the ice cream truck that came by next to the farmers market. This is not a "park" - it is an oasis!
This park is heavily used, it's often difficult to find parking but you will find it. Facilities are jam-packed to the brim, no negative run-ins people generally being respectful! . No outdoor water fountains so bring something to drink for you and your family there are barbecue pits it's close to the river nice playground for the kids.
Well maintained, clean and convenient. The gardens are nice and an added value. They add a magnificence touch to the park. Parking is limited depending on the date/time unless street parking is used.
We only visited the wading pool so can't say much about the rest of the park. The water in the pool was cold and the showers were also cold. The changing rooms were not very clean, probably why a lot of people avoided using them. Regardless, the kids still didn't want to leave and had quite some fun.
