The Red Willow Badminton Club is a privately-owned facility located in St. Albert, Alberta.

Story

RWBC has been in operation for 24 years and caters to all levels from beginners to competitive tournament players.

Professional coaching is provided by club managers David & Jean Folinsbee. Jean is former Canadian singles champion and was world masters champion on three occasions.

The club conducts weekly ladder competitions in singles, doubles and junior singles. Monthly memberships are available and guest privileges are also offered.
RWBC is open seven days a week, and publishes a monthly newsletter for members and registered guests.

Went in here with my son and some family to ask about schedules and pricing. We then made plans to come in the following day. When we came in to play, there was a different lady working, and the first thing we were asked was if we'd booked ourselves in. This surprised us, as the lady we'd spoken with the day before had been told we'd be coming in the following day but at no point told us we needed to book anything. Then it got a bit more strange. The prices and policies were entirely different to what we'd been told the day prior and we'd found that this would make teams and cost a bit more challenging. A little exasperated, we agreed to the new terms. However, as we were preparing to sign some forms, the lady working must have seen I was a bit frustrated by the misinformation we'd received the day prior, and out of the blue she says to me, in front of my son and family, "You know if you don't like it, you don't have to play here." I was floored by her rudeness. I felt pretty entitled to my frustration, but at no point did I act rudely. I'm sure I sighed and frowned over the confusion, but did nothing to deserve this comment. I immediately told my family it was time to leave, and as we were walking away, she continued to holler at us that 'the information is all on the website'. So for this reason, I guess I should have known the prices and costs better than her own employees? She continued to follow us right out the door, arguing and insisting that we should have checked the website. Outrageous behavior. Absolutely outrageous. I was shaking by the time I got to my car. We spent the afternoon in a different facility and had a great day, but I will never forget this incident. It was a really shocking experience.
A very friendly place run by one of the former champions of Canada. Jean looks after anyone who comes in her club. Badminton club is small but very high classed. Courts are kept in fantastic shape. Family play is incouraged.
Family run badminton club. Home to the world's largest badminton racquet! Jean and David owners are great at either helping all ages start or putting on a good time for the more experienced. Been going here 3 years even though in 45 minutes away.
Great sport community. Good rates for families.
