I can never get ahold anyone to make an appointment. I call for hours when it says it open and nobody ever answers, starting to get very annoyed!

Same boat. Except I did leave that doctor and am on the waiting list again. Would you get your car repaired by a third rate mechanic just because he was the only one around? No, you would drive the extra distance and get it done right. What you describe is exactly correct. The office staff didn't care and it seemed like the office was complete bedlam. Files all over the place (they couldn't find mine at times). You walk in the waiting area and they have signs all over the place about how the government is shafting them and to sign a petition. And beside that is the rules and what they won't for you. Seems like it's all about the money and not about patient care. Wait 45 minutes for reception to answer the phone only to be told the next available appointment is a week away. Doesn't matter if you have an emergency. Go to the hospital. That way they don't have to do any real work. Ever wonder why there is no hospital privileges? Because it's a privilege.

I'm not a patient but accompany my father to his appointments with Dr Uttley. I find him genuinely concerned and very informative in his own colourful way. I very much appreciate that he includes me in the conversation knowing that I'm my dad's ears. I do however find his office distracting my chaotic. Perhaps it's just growing pains :)
