Well we stopped here to have our picnic lunch while driving up Lake Superior on Thanksgiving Monday. Before too long, we noticed this little bunny right close to our picnic table. He was aware of us but not afraid to stay close. On the way out, we took note of the name of this campground- Rabbit Blanket. So fitting that we should have a bunny for a visit. A lovely spot to stop for a picnic lunch.

The lake was a big disappointment. It is really a shallow muddy beaver pond. Sites are best suited to small or mid size RVs. Electrical posts require extension cords. I would recommend this park for an overnight stay. My partner enjoyed the Peat Mountain hike. Water has a very high iron content. Drinkable but not recommended.

Beautiful small campground. Generally small campsites. Has sites big enough for most large trailers BUT if you are bad at or afraid of backing up your trailer/RV...do not come here...unless you have a smaller trailer and you can get one of the limited pull-through sites. My truck and trailer give a combined 48 feet so I appreciate the challenges of fitting a big rig in a small space.
If you want big open water and sandy beaches don't come here. If you want a small scenic Northern environment where you paddle through bays, lakes, wetlands and rivers seeing the full range from tiny minnows and insects all the way up to the massively majestic moose then slam on your brakes and turn in at Rabbit Blanket. Grab your paddle and camera and get out on the water before dawn and paddle silently and you will be rewarded!

Previous reviewers had mentioned that we could expect a dirty ugly lake. On the contrary, we arrived to a beautiful and peaceful spot. Although you are near the trans Canada, the unique mixture of wildlife sounds and transport hubbub lulls you to sleep. Rabbits spotted: 1. We phoned in for advice and the staff of LSPP went above and beyond!

It is a small but beautiful campground with a small beach that has limited sandy areas. The public outhouses are fit for the woods so do not expect indoor plumbing but you can also head over to the washroom/shower/laundry facility for a bit of home comfort. Prices are standard for sites as per Provincial rates but you will need a long extension cord as the electrical plugs are not at the rear of the sites but rather at the entrance by the road. Last, water here is potable but it has a high level of sodium so it gives it a yellowish colour so either pre-fill your tanks, bring extra water or just rough it!
