True to their claim, the Peking duck served here is fantastic. The duck was well seasoned, with crispy outer skin throughout, minimal breast fat, moist meat, and absent any undesirable gamey flavor. The chef who sliced the meat at the table side appeared skilled in his trade. There was a great variety of traditional Chinese appetizers and entrees to select from as well. The service was great, with staff members greeting both customer arrival and departure. The wait staff checked up on customers often but without being obtrusive.
First time visited this famous restaurant, was highly recommended by many friends . I think the exterior and Interior design are the most attractive parts of the restaurant. Also , the tableware has played an important part of the meal. I understand that I should not compare with the Peking ducks that we had in Peking or in Hong Kong. Maybe only 3 ladies to have lunch is not easy to order food, we could only order the half-duck set and a plate of veggie. I can only say that the duck is only average , the veggie with mushroom is really yummy. I think it should be better if you ordered a whole duck . The service is good.
Nice place to check in with friends and family. Great looking dishes if you never try Beijing duck. This is the most famous place in China. The fish comes on table was cold and over cooked. Checked with waitress she agreed to return the item. But as this pricey restaurant, we expecting more great cooking quality.
Nicely decorated. Extensive menu, food was well presented and taste delicious. Staff were attentive and friendly. The only downside is the seating is quite tight. The table next to us had 2 kids that were quite loud. I would've enjoyed it more if the tables were further than arms length, and don't have to squeeze between 2 chairs to get out.
Beautiful location and decor. Greeting and host service was great leading up to the dining room. Dining service needs more work. Staff not as attentive as to be expected. The duck was good, authentic Beijing style. Other dishes were okay, flavours were slightly bland compared to other similar region restaurants. Overall decent experience but for the price paid, would expect better and more attentive service especially when restaurant was not super busy.
We booked a private room on a weekend for a birthday. The food we got was very tasty, well presented and the service was quite nice as well. Only giving it a 4 star because it was very pricey. For 9 people it cost about 2 grand. It's one of those places where I would go again only for special events.
We came at around 5:00 for an early dinner. Was seated right beside the entrance. First the plate were dirty so we have to get them changed. Then we looked at the menu for Peking duck, one is like 80 for whole, the other is 100 for whole. So we asked the sever what was the difference, they say the $100 one they pick the best ones out of the batch so we went for that one. Both the duck and wrap was warm more to the colder side. The duck skin were not even crispy and just chew like rubber. The meat was dry, and there were too much fat. Even T&T duck is better. Feels like we got served left over duck from lunch. The Peking style pork balls, was very very dry and cold. Which is very very surprising consider they have to fry them. The scallops have sand in them and was cold as well. There was another table that got seated beside us. When they serve the duck, the chef actually goto their table and explain everything like what parts are being served and stuff. But we did not get any of those experiences or service. You can see in the picture, the chef was doing it very far away and we double zoomed in. On top of the double standard, we had flies flying around our table, and the dish were all dirty, you can see from the picture. Black stains all over the plates, and color fading off. They also charge us $5 for the tea, which was never mentioned. Consider most chinese restaurant serve tea for free.... 100% not worth $200....
It was delicious and different! It is a really Chinese restaurant with authentic recipes. We ask our generous host to order for us. He ordered a duck, a very delicious fish and a food with eggplant and fish. At first they bring some part of duck breast which you should try with sugar. It melts in the mouth! It was different. And the delicious food with eggplant and fish. I love this place. It was really different. If you are adventure in taste there were a lot of options. Maybe I try them later.
Decent but really overpriced. I guess it's nice to come here for the experience or special occasions only. Tables are also pretty cramped inside. We ordered whole Peking duck, crab roe simmered tofu, a fried rice and soup noodle with pork chop on side. They gave us a complimentary duck cellphone stand at the end for their 5th anniversary which was a nice touch.
QJD is a popular restaurant in Beijing, and Toronto lucky to have one in Markham.  Known for peking duck for years, of course this is a must order.  Whole duck comes with 24 wraps.  The duck skin is crispy, duck meat is juicy and the wrap is soft.  The other great entree is the black pepper steak cubes. However, the good things stop here.  The asparagus with prawn and steam eel with black bean sauce are a disappointment. The prawn is small and no taste at all.  The dinner entrees are overall expensive.  Finally, due to covid19, seating is only 50% capacity at this moment, and the restaurant has totally no social distance between tables.  If one entree that takes me back to QJD, it would be only mainly because of the peking duck.
