Pillar and Post Inn & Spa

About

The Pillar and Post is a landmark hotel in the heart of Niagara on the Lake. It combines modern amenities within a historic setting.

Story

Pillar and Post's original structure was built in the late 1890s as a canning factory, and since has been lovingly transformed into a fine Niagara on the Lake hotel. You can still see its original purpose in the clean lines of the brick walls and in the impressive post-and-beam construction.

The hotel has a relaxed elegance with sunshine streaming in through skylights, beautiful terra cotta tile floors, indoor and outdoor pools, and an exotic hot springs pool at 100 Fountain Spa, #1 spa in Canada (Spas of America 2011).

With our prime location in Niagara-on-the-Lake wine country, attentive service and commitment to the comfort of our guests, Pillar and Post is an ideal location for a romantic spa getaway, business meeting or a family vacation.

Had an extremely unpleasant experience at the pool. While swimming with my 3 small children Heather moved our things, including children’s clothing and sat other guests there. Although Heather was fully aware we were there as she spoke to us as we arrived at the pool. When we confronted her as I had no place to sit my kids after getting them out of the water she became rude. Seeing that the conversation was going no where I told her I’m going to the front desk, she blocked my way, I then asked her to move to which she said “say please”, I said I won’t, “she said you need to leave the pool area, you can’t come back here”. I told her I’d speak to the front desk about this and was done talking to her. The food and beverage director came storming out as she had called him, who was unapologetic and only noted that he wasn’t aware that Heather had seen us before we entered the pool.nnI have never received such rude treatment in any stay.nnWe booked as a group of 8 with 3 rooms. We will never be back and I would advise as many people as I can to not go here.nnOh and I did inform the front desk of this and they did exactly nothing about it. Our stay and experience there was completely ruined. Happy Canada day to us from this wonderful Inn.
Overall this is a nice place to stay. Charming old building, with lots of wood beams and exposed brick. Definitely an old fashioned place, if that's what you're looking for. The room was pretty nice, mostly standard with a comfortable enough bed though I found the pillows to thick - a common problem in hotels. It was quiet. The wallpaper and paint in the room were a little shabby. The pools are nice, there's an outdoor one, an indoor one with a hot tub, and an outdoor hot spring in the spa area. There's also a dry sauna by the indoor pool and another in the women's change room, though I was disappointed they don't go higher than 90F, which isn't really very hot for a sauna, plus the lights in there are really bright. The outdoor hot spring requires you to book it in advance for a 20 minute visit, but it didn't seem like anyone cared who went in, when, or for how long. It's not very tranquil if there are other people as they all just talk loudly to each other and don't respect the signs saying that it's a quiet space. Same with the entire rest of the spa, to be honest. The only quiet/tranquil space was the little spa lounge and inside the sauna. It was better in the evening when the day spa people went home. I did the endless summer wrap, which was awesome and I highly recommend it. They do provide sandals for you if you ask at the desk, just in case you forgot to bring your own. The food at The Cannery was pretty good, but overpriced. Breakfast was good and there was a lot of selection. Overall I'd recommend this place for a cute getaway, but the spa is only worth it if you do one of the treatments. Otherwise, I think the Nordic style spas are better as they have more kinds of pools. Service was excellent, everyone was very kind. The process for the hot springs was a bit confusing though, and everyone seemed to have a different answer for how it works for booking your time, how often you can go, etc.
I am so glad I found this place. My wife and I enjoyed our 6 night stay. The room was small, but quaint and comfortable. The pool and spa were excellent. All of the staff were polite friendly and diligent.nThank you all for a wonderful week!
I had an incredible experience at 100 Fountain Spa located in Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and relaxed. The staff was professional, friendly, and attentive to every detail.nnMercedes was my massage therapist, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She has a magical touch and a wonderful ability to find and relieve all the tension spots. Her expertise and soothing demeanor made the entire session deeply rejuvenating.nnOne of the standout features of 100 Fountain Spa is the access to the hot springs, sauna, and shower facilities. After my massage, I spent some time in the hot springs, which was an excellent way to further unwind and enhance the overall relaxation. The sauna and showers were clean and well-maintained, adding to the luxurious experience.nnIf you’re looking for a top-notch massage and a place to truly relax, look no further. Ask for Mercedes – you won’t be disappointed!
Spent a girls weekend and had the most fun. Great location and amenities. Shoutout to Jodi from the spa as I got the aromaflex.nnLots of additional and included services like yoga classes and meditation that as a guest you can enjoy.nnOne thing I’d suggest is to increase chlorine at the pool, lots of people.
