Discovered this little spot today while out and about. Had The Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. It was strong but subtle notes of caramel. The appetizer platter had some great flavours and so many different sauces. The grilled pork banh mi was simply delicious. I forgot to take a picture of #25 pho but it had a nice flavourful broth. Just a great experience.
super tasty Vietnamese place! Special notes: their fried chicken is 10× better than HiFive next door! It's a must order if you have enough people to share it. Their Vietnamese Coffee also tasted heavenly! Definately worth trying I've had takeout from this restaurant for many times and finally went in to try everything fresh. I loved the pho and the fresh garden rolls, they came with quality ingredients for very reasonable price! And all their regular rice and rice noodle dishes are also super tasty and fresh! It's a really amazing GEM in the North Burnaby area.
We've had good experiences dining at Pho 101. Unfortunately, we ordered take out today, #16 Pho with rare steak/brisket/tendon/beef balls, and the noodles were completely broken up into little pieces see attached photo, with not a single intact one to be seen. It makes me wonder if the little bits of left over noodles in their pot are strained and then compressed into a package to be served to take out customers. I understand that food shouldn't be wasted; however, those little bits of noodles should be shared amongst all customers, not just the unlucky few.
Great find in area. Comforting food. Surprised not more busy. Decent pho broth. Subs also good. Iced Vietnamese coffee also good. Also had the appetizer platter, which was fun. the chicken wing batter was a bit heavy -but overall an excellent spot and great value for the price point. Will definitely come back when in the area!
Great little gem! Everything was delicious and you can taste the quality and love that goes into the food. Lemongrass chicken with rice platter was delicious! Tea and soup were a great touch! Thanks!Food: 5/5
Solid family-owned pho restaurant. My local go-to take out place in N. Bby as they are now with Skip the Dishes. One of the few rare pho places that also gives you a small bowel of the broth/soup without having to ask if you order a rice dish. I'm no Viet food expert but everything here tastes good to me.
Chicken and spring rolls with vermicelli. loved it.
I think pho 101 has one of the better or maybe even best broth in Burnaby. It’s always so clear and full of flavour. I’m always tempted to squeeze lime in it but it’s already sweet enough that it would just ruin the balance of it. I always order 23 but last time I found the meat a bit over done and not fatty enough especially the brisket. For atmosphere, it’s pretty much a hole in the wall so it’s not really a date spot if you want to impress. Meals under $13 approved.
The food looked fantastic. The meat was plentiful, lean and well cooked. The noodles? Perfect. The broth, while nice and clear, was near tasteless. The spring roll was delicious on its own. The dipping sauce for it needed some work... Either it had too much fish sauce or not enough sugar. It was overpoweringly salty/fishy.
First time ordering takeout here. One of the soups was leaking in the bag as we left, so we went back to inform the waitress. She took the bag to the kitchen and came out with a new package for us. We thought she had replaced the soup that was leaking. When we got home we realized the leaking bowl was half empty of soup and the plastic bowl was also deformed which caused the leak. Disappointed the restaurant didnt bother to replace the defective container and shorted us of soup!
