Very Americanized Chinese food. The portions are good, but between spicy Shanghai noodles and Mongolian chicken, the taste was practically the same. Spring rolls were fine, general Tao wasn’t spicy, just… in a sauce. We ate and didn’t cook so got the job done, but probably won’t return.
10/10 The Lo mein and fried rice are absolutely delicious. Food was prepared properly and ready on time as stated for pick up. Hands down one of the best takeout foods I’ve had in Kitchener. Recommended!!!
The food is always hot and the order correct. Saying that, I rarely make substitutions. The lady answering the phone is direct and to the point which I can appreciate since she works in the kitchen when not taking orders. Be sure to quote the item number when ordering to make things easier. A typical phone order will go like this : She will answer the phone, " Peking Gourmet" You say " order for pickup" She says " yeah? What do you want" My typical order is C5 and C8 She will give you the total and say 20 mins and hang up the phone. Nothing rude about that, just being efficient and trying to pump out orders as fast as possible. If you want stellar customer service go to an upscale eat in restaurant. This is quick take out.
The reviews are a bit harsh. I think a lot of the negative reviews are due to the direct tone and nature of the woman answering the phone. That being said, the food is well portioned and better than most "quick and cheap" Chinese places. The food is also pretty darn good. The sesame chicken is always amazing. Not the best, but pretty good.
The food was adequate but not fulfilling. The hot and sour soup was lacking flavour but had a great consistency. The best part of our order was the sesame chicken as it was cooked perfectly. The rice and noodles were just average and wouldn’t recommend. They did give complimentary white rice and fortune cookies.
I have ordered from Peking on multiple occasions however the level of customer service I experienced recently is very disappointing. I ordered takeout and the woman on the phone was extremely rude to me. She was frustrated throughout the whole call and hung up on me. Although the food is good, it's not worth the terrible experience.
For a long time, I have been looking for a good Chinese takeout place in my neighbourhood without luck. I finally found this place and it did live up to my expectations. The service is certainly *terrible*, but I don’t care much about that for takeout. Of course, I would never go there for a nice dinner out. I got cheese wontons and General Tso’s chicken. Both were tasty. There was a bit too much sauce on the chicken, but it was still tasty. I found the portion was almost enough for two people, so I got some leftover as well! I ordered by phone and it was ready in 15 minutes in a very carefully organized package.
I've had the vegetable lo mein twice now. Pretty good. Some might say it needs more flavour but I liked it. Good serving amount. Also the lady at the front is just straightforward. She's not rude. I don't know what people are complaining about. Lol
Not the most eloquent customer service, but the lady is quick and to-the-point and the food is finished very, but they certainly understand you and make up for it in the value for food amount and quality. Best chicken fried rice ever, hint of smoky BBQ!Food: 5/5
First time here for a takeout. The food was pretty good, but the portions OK; not the usual generous Chinese food portions. Only 3- stars because the lady who took the order and completed the transaction was quite rude. I greeted her but she didn't greet back. I asked for a spoon, but she shouted that there was already a fork in the package. Do I have to explain why I need a spoon? Once the payment went through, she just walked away mumbling something. Not sure if she was just having a bad day or if it's always like that. For now, it sort of just made the food less tasty.
