Had this today for lunch and was very disappointed. I ordered the general tso lunch special with fried rice and a soup. The order came with very little chicken and a ton of veggies. I’m talking like 75% veggies to 25% chicken ratio. The “fried rice” that came with it was just white rice drenched in some sauce to make it brown in color and try pass as fried. The wonton soup that came with it tasted good but the portion was tiny. I added pictures of the meal how it came and then with the veggies removed.
We ordered from here through Skip the Dishes for the first time last night. The food was really good and we were thoroughly enjoying it, until my son pulled a staple out of his mouth that came from the won ton soup. Unfortunately, this put us off of our meal that we were enjoying. For this reason, I have to give it 1 star only, which is a shame because the food was good until that happened.
I wish I could rate it lower. Wonton soup is a waste of money, it has no flavour, it doesn't even have the colouring any soup broth should have. If there weren't wontons in it I'd have been convinced they sent me dirty dish water. We threw out the eggplant, it tasted as if it were just almost rotten when it was cooked, and the drenching of soy sauce did nothing to help. Mussels also tasted a bit old. Lo mein, chop suey and garlic broccoli were passable. Nothing special but edible.
This USED TO BE the only place I ordered from because they had good portions, good taste, not to salty. But they were closed for a while to make some changes. Unfortunately they broke something that didn't need to be fixed. Quality and taste has gone down so much. Basically your average courtfood food, no taste and too much sauce *posted a picture of what was suppose to be sesame chicken...
We have used King Wok for many years at both locations. We were nervous to order as it is under new ownership and there are some unfavourable reviews online. We ordered to pick up and were very pleased. The food was fresh and well prepared. We will continue to use them for our Chinese take out. Susan C
As a food lover, I enjoy trying out all the chinese and sushi spots in the city. The first time I ordered I was a little off on the quality of food but the Salt and Spicy Shrimps saved a bad experience for me. Today I ordered a combo plate. It was lacking in quantity I can get more for less price up the road. The Lemon Chicken was already sauced, I actually like that. But the rice and the overall appeal was like one of the dishes that you get from your local grocery store. The rice was bland, tough and dry and again it was like a $4 plate of food for $8. Unfortunately the shrimp won't save me from going elsewhere next time.
Rating this restaurant with a 1 is being generous. The worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Soggy battered shrimp, old dried up rice loaded with mushrooms when I asked not to have mushrooms, and egg rolls with next to no filling.
This place recently closed for a few months and just reopened. The food is absolutely disgusting now. Used to be good but now its not. Rice was very dry, sauce on all dishes seemed to be watered down soya sauce.
The reason for a 2 is there terrible yangchow rice. I've never seen one that is brown, it requires no soya sauce if, made properly. It should be light and fluffy and contain egg. If there's egg in this dish you sure don't see it due to the soya sauce. The old owners did it very well. I've been eating this dish for years and it's the worse I've ever had. That's too bad, thought I'd give them a chance. It was disappointing.
I'm not one to leave reviews but after this particularly unsatisfactory experience, I felt highly motivated! We had it delivered, we had the wonton soup, sweet and sour chicken balls, vegetable lo mein, beef and vegetable and General Tso chicken. The soup was good, the chicken balls were as you'd expect. The General Tso's chicken was squishy maybe due to the delivery, I can overlook that but there was no flavour to the sauce. Celery had a more noticeable flavour, and Celery isn't quite a mayor of flavourtown generally speaking. The beef and vegetable, similarly was squishy and bland. We essentially paid the equivalent of a grocery bill for subpar food. To add to the 1 star experience, my wife found a short black hair in her portion of lo mein, then another, slightly longer piece stuck to the outside of her egg roll. Between the hirsute food, lack of flavour, and slimy meat, we threw the remaining food out and will likely never order from here again. Delivery was quick though, so that was nice. TLDR- just don't eat here, it's bland, slimy and hairy, you can do better at other places around this price point. You deserve better.
