I booked several appointments and have had the clinic call me 3 times now to cancel because the doctor wasn't coming in. I understand 1 emergency, but 3 in the course of a few months between 2 different doctors? When I finally did get in, I waited 1 hour for my doctor to even see me. I work in the medical professional, and I would never treat my patients like this. I only needed prescription refills on drugs I have been taking for years with no complications. I understand things can get hectic, and understand why they will not refill some prescriptions over the phone or by fax, but if you keep cancelling on your patients, your receptionists have no right to say that it isn't the clinics fault for being out of medication because they gave me enough to make it to my next appointment. Yes they did, until they cancelled on me repeatedly. I am very disappointed with this clinic and will be for a new medical provider.
Made an appointment with a nurse practitioner as the doctor assigned to my file was away. Waited over an hour after the appointment time before having to leave, missing the appointment. I was told that the practitioner was busy with previous appointments and the day isn't even half over. I'm not sure what the point of an appointment is if your office isn't able to provide the service is suggests. If your staff is running slow, it makes sense to me to make a quick phone call to inform the patient that there is a delay. Or add a larger gap between appointment times to better accommodate your patients. Why is that so hard?
I phoned to book my husband in for a prescription renewal, and was told sorry there was nothing that accommodated my husband's work scedual but stated our family doctor was doing walk ins on this particular holiday which worked for us. My husband went to check in and said I like to see said doctor and the receptionist bite his head off! "YOU MEAN YOU NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR!" she was awful we sat for an hour and watched her go up one side and down the other as people came in. The phone calls were the same! She was load and far from discreet all the patient's new why the person on the other end was calling! Our doctor is so amazing but my gosh if I had to deal with that lady on a regular basis we would find somewhere else.
Had two separate instances were the reception were nothing short of horrible. Latest was they "flagged" my file because I wasn't able to give 24 hours to cancel an app. First of all the app for the flu shot was made while I had my sick child there yesterday LESS than 24 hours ago. secondly, how was I to know that my child would still be to ill to go anywhere. Her suggestion was bring him in the office. Even after I pointed out that there would be seniors. Great common sense your staff utilizes.
I have been going to this clinic for years. It used to be so full it was difficult to find a seat sometimes, The last year when I go in there is usually only 2 or 3 others. They cancelled the Diabeties group meetings and they were very busy. Now there are 8 more doctors leaving to start a new practice. I wonder how many doctors are left. I think there used to be as many as 22 doctors at one time. It looks like this clinic might close down after the 8 doctors leave but we will see.
Amanda, the receptionist, has a not-so-quite pleasant manner of conversing over the phone with patients. It came so condescending like I'm so stupid for asking questions. Maybe she means well but she needs to listen to her over-the-phone voice. Her cadence and tone are not quite friendly and welcoming. It does sound rude and comes out as "don't you understand?!' when what I was trying to do was to double check the facts of my appointment. Doctors here should read this clinic's review because the low ratings are actually about their call-takers, which are the first point of contact over their services. I honestly felt slighted.
Overall the experience was good. I was in immediately. The doctor was good the first visit, sent me for an emergency ultrasound in the city, I ended up having kidney stones and infection. Unfortunately I have a large amount of medication allergies and the one he prescribed, I am allergic to. Went back, he was angry at me for not saying so... I stated that these were my drug allergies, I have no idea what drugs are included in that family and the pharmacy had tried to fax for another script, but that never came through. eventually I got the right drugs. But seriously thankful for the ultrasound and treatment of my stones... way better than just treating symptoms, without knowing what was there.
Parkland Medical has a wonderful team of physicians who take the time to listen and understand the patient's problems. For those who have written negative reviews on waiting longer and comments like "I would never recommend this place". That in my opinion is not a good enough reason to write a negative review. The physicians take the extra care to listen to more than one problem, help come up with solutions and document the visits so obviously it will take time. The physicians who take the extra time to care for their patients sometimes can go over the appointment time so it can result in other patients waiting. Physicians cannot always predict the level of patient concerns so all I am saying is that complaining about waiting times is not a good enough reason to bash a clinic. Truly this clinic takes care of their patients and I highly recommend this place if anyone is looking for a good physician.
The reception staff were lovely and the nurses who attended. My doctor, however, was anything but helpful. I went in for my first prenatal and the doctor was vague when telling me what was going on with the processes and never answered any of my questions. I had Dr Fadima and will not be going back to this clinic. I had a lot of questions since this is my first pregnancy but I bit my tongue because it was clear she was not happy to answer my questions and seemed to not have time for it. Neither did she listen when I had concerns about contracting a UTI and sure enough woke up that same night with issues that brought me to an emergency room so I could have antibiotics prescribed. So frustrating when your doctor won't listen!!!!
I was in to see the doctor last Wednesday, while the receptionist staff was professional and polite I had to wait one hour past my appointment time because the doctor was backed up. A woman also waiting told me it was because the doctors are now taking walk in patients. What good is having an appointment when the doctor gets so far behind because they see walk in's? Isn't that why we have a walk in clinic in the same building? Very disappointed.
