We tried steamed beef dumplings, beef with fried onion & white rice and Kongpao chicken rice. All items were tasted good but i wont say extraordinary. Its a halal chinese restaurant. Overall a good experience.
Very nice Chinese food! Had the Traditional Lanzhou beef noodle soup, braised beef noodle soup, lamb rib noodles, fried beef dumplings and the stir fried Szechuan chili chicken no image. Dumplings were amazing! Traditional Lanzhou beef noodle was pretty good, added chilli oil to make it a bit spicy. Other noodle soups were great too. However won’t recommend the Szechuan chili chicken, it is basically chicken nugget. Not terrible though. Overall would suggest this place if you’re looking for halal Chinese food.
It’s very rare to find authentic Chinese restaurant that serve halal food in Toronto. During the lockdown we tried their traditional Lanzhou beef hand-pulled noodles soup as takeout. Which was great! But after the lockdown ended we tried it at the restaurant and it was simply amazing! Interior was neat and clean but service was poor. Even after asking multiple times for forks and to refill the water they kept forgetting about it. I think good service is just as important as tasty food at seat down restaurants. Hopefully they improve their service in the future.
Very authentic Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles. They offer you a variety of choices regarding the specific kind of noodle you want. And there’s enough beef to go with it. The waiters are very nice too.
Tried their hand pulled beef noodles and it was delicious! Probably one of the best you will find in the Scarborough area. Very flavourful and decent portions. Beef and broth was not too fat and oily. Did not know about it until recently. Noodles were nice and chewy with lots of garnish. Would definitely be back to try their other dishes in the future.
The staff were very nice and the food came very quick. The food itself was incredible and worth every penny.
Excellent restaurant. The staff was delightful and friendly. This was the most delicious food I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the Yang Chow Fried rice. The stir fried noodles are on another level!
Im a big lamb lover and came here based on the good reviews, but unfortunately left quite disappointed. The lamb ribs were tiny portions for $30 bucks, and quite dry and unsavoury. It looked nothing like the pictures we saw on past reviews, could be change of chef? My wife tried their other signature dish - spicy beef stew, and taste was bit better than the lamb, but unfortunate its all cabbage under the top layer of beef. Bill came to $70 after tax and tips for two, and we were initially expecting to have quite a bit of leftovers for next day, but turned out to finish everything due to the small portions. Service was fine, atmosphere is nice antique style chinese decor, and no AC.
Got the spicy beef stew and it was just amazing and so flavourful minus the excessive whole szechuan peppercorns considering Szechuan wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu handed to us with a decent amount of meat. The fried lamb dumplings weren't that great even though they were recommended by our server, and yangchow fried rice was just ok, not very flavourful but maybe that's how it's meant to be. Would've given the place 4 stars if not for all the other issues with this place... First, it was a hot summer day and there was absolutely no air conditioning or fans. Second, because it was our first time here and we were unfamiliar with many dishes, we needed our servers' inputs. However they seemed to be confused with our questions or just unaware of what each dish actually contained. Third, we got no soup spoons with our meal, just plastic disposable spoons which made it difficult to spoon out or drink the broth. I didn't realize this was not the norm here until I looked at the restaurant pictures on Google later. The last issue I had was the steep prices here. For us it was around $50 for 2 people, with just a few bites of rice as leftovers. You may be able to justify the prices with the good/fresh quality of the meal. However, I'm not sure you can justify the price considering the other service issues. We left the place with our bellies full but were eager to leave that sauna.
The noodle bowls are deceptively large. The menu is small but the food is very tasty.
