165 years old, Oakwood Cemetery is the final resting place for over 22,000 people on 18 acres in Niagara Falls, NY

Mission

Having surpassed its 166th anniversary, Historic Oakwood Cemetery and the Oakwood Mausoleum are facing needs for the maintenance of this beautiful Niagara Falls treasure. The Board of Directors of the Oakwood Cemetery Association voted unanimously in 2010 to embark on a restoration project for the cemetery and the mausoleum. Local, state, and National Register designations have been acheived to both protect the historic site and to make it eligible for public and private historic preservation grants. A historic landscape report will evaluate the cemetery grounds and recommend a plan for restoration and a historic conditions report will accomplish a similar goal for the Mausoleum.

You can be a part of the Historic Oakwood Cemetery Restoration project by donating toward the matching funds for the grants being sought. Historic Preservation grants are generally matching grants, and each dollar that you donate to the Restoration Project will match a dollar of grant funding. As a 501(c) (3), the Oakwood Cemetery Heritage Foundation, Inc., is a charitable not-for-profit recipient of your tax-deductible donations.
