Story

OAK + CRU Social Kitchen & Wine Bar draws its inspiration from the bounty of the Okanagan Valley, which includes over 250 wineries (30 locally) and an abundance of local food producers and artisans. Located on the water and in the heart of downtown Kelowna, our guests can enjoy the energy and passion of a well-trained team while they venture on a culinary journey with spectacular views of Lake Okanagan.

Menu concepts are built on the unique and modern presentation of globally inspired cuisine with a farm to table twist. The 6,000 pound signature Fire Deck oven provides the anchor for the menu content. Every menu item will be inspiring and modern in craft, pairing well with the valley’s best vintages.

We love the food, and the location but we have consistently had terrible service. The servers aren't trained well enough. They will walk past your table many times and never clear away a dirty dish. We keep going only because the food is great. I started keeping track of the things they consistently do that creates a bad service experience and my husband and I laugh about it because every single time we go, every category gets a check mark. If service is always this bad one can only blame management for lack of training. 1. Dirty dishes always left on table well after meals are finished. 2.sitting for long periods of time before orders are taken. 3. Long periods of time go by before they check to see if meals are satisfactory, and if it's not, too late because by the time they check, your dinner mates are almost finished eating! 4. When drinks are low is a great time to see if anyone wants to order more...but that doesn't typically happen. 5. once you are done, and you're STILL sitting with a pile of dirty dishes on your table from when you finished 30 mins ago, it will take a VERY long time for you to get your bill. We have often had to get up and go look for our server.

When we got there we got seated right away. Servers were all walking around yet we had nothing to drink and were just waiting. They would come and play with my baby but walk away. After waiting for half an hour we got up and left and no one even noticed. The sad thing is there was only three other people in the restaurant.

Menu on the table says Happy hour 3 to 6 pm. When I order off the happy hour menu the waitress informs us "It's only in effect Sun to Fri (this is Sat). That's a mistake on the menu...but I will check to see if they will give it to you....No, sorry.) Management, please take the time to reprint your menus, this is unacceptable.

I just ate here once for breakfast so I can't speak on the restaurant as a whole but the breakfast was great and I was particularly impressed with my waitress who really went out of her way to give great service. Wish I got her name so I could give credit (she's blonde ;)) Food was good, atmosphere is good, nice little view out the window. Definitely a nice place for a hotel restaurant.
