National Car and Truck Rental

I don't usually rent cars outside of Airport locations but my car had to be in the shop for a week and I needed something local. I chose not to go with the airport location even though it was closer to my house because the cars were cheaper due to there being less fees airport convenience etc.... The team at the Calgary Downtown location was great and the car was exactly what we needed, in good condition and clean inside and out. I would definitely recommend.

Service was quick and they gave me a phone call before their driver left to pick me up so I knew when he would arrive. Car seems nice so far. They tried hard to sell me $63 for glass insurance coverage for 3 days though.... That's enough to replace the glass every month! That's a total scam.

They helped save my vacation. We have a flight change of over 4 hours and wouldn't make it into Calgary before they close. When Will called to confirm the reservation I explained the issue and he recommended that I called their Enterprise branch to see if they had any cars and if not they could move my car there. When I called the other location they were more then happy to help and would do everything for me to make sure my rental was there for us when we got in at our later time. Will at the downtown Calgary location and the gentlemen at the downtown Enterprise location went above and beyond to make sure we were not without our rental as a result of the airline changing our flight. I called the 1800 number and they had no options for us so we though our vacation was going to be drastically changed. I am so glad that they call to confirm cause of they didn't we would of cancelled. Truly amazing service

We reserved a car from online. It happened that there was no actual vehicles at all at this DT location, when we arrived. Ashoka Garsada: Branch Manager solved the problem by called around from the other locations and got us something lovely to drive. That was awesome!

It was a pleasant experience. I booked my rental and insurance through expedia. The oick up was fast and smooth. The car was washed and clean inside. The only issue I had was when I was asked to come back due to a recall on the car, that took a good 40 mins of my time driving back and forth. The car they swapped was really nice though. Professional and friendly service.

There was a bit of a line when I arrived on a busy holiday weekend, but the team was focused and it moved quickly the office is shared by Alamo and Enterprise as well. Overall was a positive experience and the location is an easy walk from downtown hotels.

Great customer service!! Instead of pushing overpriced extras that I don’t need, the team at this branch prioritized my safety and travel needs. My original booking was for a mid size sedan, but with the recent snowfall and close to freezing temperatures, I was offered a free upgrade to an SUV with AWD to make it easier to travel on the slippery roads. Above and beyond customer care!!

Really positive experience. Quick pickup, clean and well performing. There was a tiny door ding that was also a non issue when we returned the car. The manager, Zack, apologized for the delay when we returned the car and gave us a 20 percent discount for a <20 minute wait. Highly recommended.

The vehicle that I reserved for August 5, a mini-van, was made ready for me 4 hours late! I reserved a pickup for 10AM and received the vehicle at 2PM. The only saving grace was that we were told to go home and they would deliver the vehicle to us. They said they would do this in one hour I consider this an inconvenience but a reasonable delay but it took 4 hours. I had stopped by the branch the previous day to check on availability of the minivan. I was told there was no problem and that it would be OK to come in early the next day to pick it up. I came in at 9:30 AM, and by 9:45 we were told to go home and wait for delivery. After 1.5 hr. I called the branch. They did not answer their phone. I finally got through aft 2.5 hrs and was told the vehicle was being cleaned and would be delivered soon. Finally after 3:45 hr I received a call that the vehicle was on its way. When delivered the person said they would make up for the delay when I returned it. On return the staff seemed not at all concerned about the delay. The same staff member who delivered the vehicle checked me in and after my reminder offered me a $40 reduction and no sense that their half day delay was any concern of National. After my complaint the staff member raised the reduction to $60. The impression I received is that they think it a great privilege I have to deal with National and I should take whatever I get. This has not been my experience at other National branches.

Very good service! Second time with National Car Rental in Calgary and will keep renting there. Very accomodating when my plans changed a little bit. Also upgraded car both times. Brand new SUV, great to drive! Perfect for Alberta! One thing was missing...heated seats. But loved my experience. Good price, good service! Definitely recommend!
