Nat Bailey Stadium

Story

Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium is home to the Vancouver Canadians of the Northwest League in the summer and the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in the spring.Stadium historyOriginally built in 1951 as Capilano Stadium, it was renamed Nat Bailey Stadium in 1978 to honour the work of Vancouver restaurateur Nat Bailey and his tireless effort to promote baseball in Vancouver.Nat Bailey Stadium is located on the eastern side of Queen Elizabeth Park in the Riley Park-Little Mountain neighbourhood of Vancouver. The stadium was first home to the Vancouver Capilanos in the early 1950s and later attracted the Oakland Oaks, who became the Vancouver Mounties of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League, from 1956 to 1962, and 1965 through 1969. The PCL returned to Vancouver in 1978 with the Vancouver Canadians, owned by Harry Ornest. He purchased most of the primary assets of Sick's Stadium in Seattle and shipped them north for use at Nat Bailey. The Canadians stayed in Vancouver through the 1999 season, then relocated south to Sacramento, California. The following season, a second incarnation of the Canadians began playing in the short-season Class A Northwest League.

I went here for the Saturday Market which was amazing!!! Such a cute little market with great vendors. It was a dog mecca too which is always a plus. I get from eggs from Rockfield farms. Only $6 for a dozen free range organic eggs!!! Make sure you come to this stall. It is the best :) And the best value eggs in the market.

What a great place to go for a summer evening or an afternoon baseball game. A lot of people come just to hang out and don't even watch the game. Then again, there are a lot of Baseball fans Who come out to watch some really good baseball. The food is amazing. Chef Patrick makes a wonderful pulled pork and smoked rib, smoked for 12 hours. Great footlong hot dogs and a little surprised not too many people know about called the nooner. If you don't know what that is you'll need to shop around to try and find it, it's a house Secret.

Went here for the Farmers Market outside. I didn't make it inside the actual stadium. But from what I could tell it looked nice. Parking lot is decent and the curb-to-step ratio was reasonable - great if you have a limp...

Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver is a really great place to go and watch a professional baseball game. The Vancouver Canadians are a farm club for the Toronto Bluejays. (The only professional baseball team in Canada) Not only that but the Vancouver Canadians were league champions in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2017. The stadium is old, but always well maintained with an ever increasing number of fans. So buy your tickets early as games often sell out. Over 6000 fans per game with the largest overall attendance of all the teams in the league. Bring the kids as they will love the kid friendly environment. It is one of our favorite evenings out activities in Vancouver every summer.
