Quite liked it. Tried the black bean glutinous rice cake and it was nice, moist, and squishy. Good sweet bean flavor and bouncy rice cake texture. I like how it's not overly sweet so you can appreciate the taste of rice in the rice cake and the bean flavor. I'd say they make a good speciality product in the rice cake domain and would come here again if I was craving rice cakes.
I found a hidden rice cake dessert gem in Richmond They offer various kinds of rice cakes and no hi in a different form of dessert. I get the mango mochi. I’m happy with trying this one. It’s filled with real fresh mango with some cream. If you love mango, you will love it I had to grab a couple of their iconic menu from each category. Osmanthus rice cake, Peanut glutinous rice cake, Matcha Mochi cake taco, Pork floss and Taro glutinous fried dough fritter, Ostanthus sea coconut & Pear tea. I love everything. I will definitely come back again. Recommend • Matcha Mochi cake taco - $12.95 • Mango Mochi cake Sando - $11.99 • Osmanthus rice cake - $14.99 •Pork floss and Taro glutinous fried dough fritter - $ • Ostanthus sea coconut & pear tea - $6.95
I generally like the daifuku and rice cakes here. But The Mango Pomelo Sago w/ Coconut Milk Noodles was my favourite this time. For any mango pomelo lover, this is the perfect dessert. The mochi sandwiches are also very good. Didn’t seem too have too much mochi in the sandwich but the flavour was delicious. Wish they had hot drinks, I think that would be a better pairing for the rice cakes. So probably best to take home and enjoy anyways as there is limited seating.
Fresh and mildly sweet. The Osmanthus rice cake was a hit with my family and pairs very nicely with a pot of tea. Their to-go bags are cute too and packaged nicely - gift-able quality! They have a variety of mochis like fresh durian, strawberry, and mango. Their Mochi Ice cream is pretty good too. I’ve been wanting to try their sandos for a while but they are so popular and almost always sold out!. I’ll be sure to return to try it out and will try to come by earlier in the day to beat the rush. Highly recommend!
Honestly after I saw the place being recommended by a famous instagram influencer, so I decided to try it out with my friend. The service was great so they deserve at least one star, but the food quality was simply underwhelming. We purchased the top recommended osmathus rice cake and the egg yolk pork gloss mochi. We paid approximately $10 dollars for the rice cake and $6 dollars for the mochi. I wouldn't mind paying that much if the food was actually palatable, but unfortunately the rice cake was bland, super dry * you could choke on it, and the texture was off as it was difficult to chew. The egg yolk pork floss was tiny, tasted fishy, and had a weird aftertaste. I've never eaten something so unpalatable in my life. I honestly had high expectations for nam dae moon because of the hype. It was way below expectations. But props to them on the presentation of the food. Aesthetically I would give them a A+. In summary, would I recommend someone to go here. Probably not. If they are looking for pictures it's a great place to go, but for the food not so much. I might go back and give them one more chance, but slightly scared after my experience from today. Hopefully they improve the quality of their food.
Excellent staff but what I had this afternoon was rough - both the osmanthus and oreo rice cakes were dry and had the wrong chew…maybe they were a tad too old or maybe it’s the heat wave? We both had them seconds after walking out the store though. The red bean glutinous rice cake was decent. Perhaps I will give the other items a try in the future.
Staff was very friendly and helpful and the cakes themselves was beautifully displayed. I like the fact that it wasn't overly sweet, but I also found it to be very dry. Definitely not worth the price. I know they just opened, so hopefully they can adjust their recipes for a more western taste bud.
No lineup when we went. Friendly staff quickly gave us an overview of the menu and what to expect. Sticky vs less sticky. Eat now while warm vs eat later. Sadly some recommended items were sold out but we still enjoyed these two items.
I love Rice Cakes, and i'm super happy that a store like this exists. Cute little store, clean, and inviting. I like their Osmanthus Rice Cake, mainly because that's usually the one they always have available. I've tried their redbean rice cake, blackbean rice cake, seasame rice cake, soybean rice cake, oreo rice cake, strawberry mochi, mango mochi, and durian mochi as well. Overall, not bad...not good after the next day. If you plan to eat the ricecakes the days after, I recommend steaming it to reheat. It gets dry and firm if not. i will have to agree with others where the price is a bit much. It's also very disappointing the 5 times i've been there...cause the things i want is always sold out or not being offered that day. I don't recommend coming in the evening late afternoon - come at opening. Brought friends here a few times, as they live far and never get to try other foods. They love it but with the price...it's really something you treat yourself once every other month or buy it for someone.
Im a huge mochi fan and I really enjoyed all the variety of items they have! I love how everything is the perfect chewy consistency and isn’t too sweet either. Here’s what I Tried: Strawberry Mochi Cake Sando 11.99 Red Bean Glutinous Rice Cake 7.99 Osmanthus Rice Cake 9.95 Caramel Lotus Rice Cake Winter Special Salted Oreo Cream w/ Ferrero Mochi 5.99 Black Sesame Milk Mochi Cup 3.99 My favourites were the Red Bean Rice Cake and Caramel Lotus Rice Cake which is a limited time winter special!
