Went on a weekend afternoon and many tables were available. Was able to get a seat right away and look over the menu. The staff did not rush us to order. Ordered an Anni Tofu and Mini Balls at the front and the dish was made promptly. Picked up the dish from the front and the presentation was quite nice. Each of the balls has a distinct color and texture, making for a fun dish to consume. The tofu also contrasts nicely with the mini balls. The syrup ties all the elements together nicely. The dish does come cold, which makes it a good summer treat.
Their desserts are always a special treat! Their grass jelly is so tender and taro/sweet potato balls are soft and chewy. They are not too sweet and are perfect for my taste. Their upstairs area is especially cozy. The only problem I find is it could take a very long time for them to get the order ready.
Great customer service!! The girl that was helping me was very patient in answering all the questions my daughter had. The desserts were AMAZING! This place is a must go if you’re in the area, it will not disappoint! Parking lot can get a little crazy but it’s worth the struggle to find a spot!
This place is absolutely adorable! The atmosphere of this place is so cute and bright, it is the perfect getaway from the gloomy weather. The portion was big I couldn’t finish 1 by myself so it’s probably best if shared among 2 people. The ingredients tasted fresh, which made everything taste great.
Take out orders. + Taste good; worthy it...? - Really small portion for the price; but might be normal in Richmond? - No writing or indicators to tell which container is for which order; confusing. + Interior looks clean and modern. Free parking outside but can be very difficult to find a spot. Just a minor suggestion: if possible, introduce any ongoing promotions, since there are many choices; which could be daunting for new customers.
Clean and nice looking dessert restaurant. It’s organised place and staff looks friendly. The only issue that if you don’t know the menu items from before then you will be ending ordering items that you don’t know their components and then you may not eat it at all. We felt it’s only for people who know the dishes from before. Parking is easy in the plaza.
I had the Kyoto Matcha Snow Ice in a cup. I love Matcha and this was delicious! The matcha ice cream on top had a nice strong matcha flavor. The shaved matcha ice surprisingly had a good matcha flavor too. The red bean on the top was soft and tasted fresh. The overall design of the drink and presentation was great. I would definitely come back for it again. Nice decor of the Cafe too.
Fantastic desserts!!! Ice cream is creamy and the ice are flavorful. Can definitely live without the taro ball and the sweet potato balls though. They are very bland.
Ordered the Boba Milk Tea Soft Serve + Shave Ice, and it was such a refreshing dessert bowl! All of the toppings were qq- the boba was very chewy and bouncy, and the yam/taro balls were soft! I enjoyed the earthiness from the red beans, and how the entire dessert wasn't overly sweet- especially with the brown sugar syrup. The milk tea soft serve was also spot on.
Cute but busy place in one of many of Richmond’s plaza! BlackBall serves Taiwanese style desserts and has an extensive menu. I ordered the mini ball aiyu plate $~10. It was very refreshing and it was a large serving- I only ate about half of it.
