Friendly staff. Food delicious. Recommend the hearts of palm and guava n cheese empanadas! Both are yummy and great for the winter time. We also ate the vegetarian sandwich, Mulata Bella consist of roasted eggplant and mushrooms on a delicious soft bread. It was surprisingly good. Even more so with the cafe miel - honey cinnamon and espresso I'm a beautiful pottery cup.
Wow, great experience.. the sandwich i got was tasty, the iced mocha is perfect.. Pictured: Carne Louca Mozzarella, braised beef, caramelized onions and bell peppers. Served on Signature Rustic Bread I will come back and try more!
Love this coffee shop! The empanadas are delicious and the lattes are perfect! Came here 2 days in a row because we enjoyed it so much. Will come back when in town.
Well located at the corner of Oak Park Ave/Lake St. The staff is young and really well trained, efficient and polite! I had a late lunch around 3 pm on a Friday, and the food was fresh to me. The chicken empanada must try all of them and the feijoada was fantastic. Parabéns Cristiane Pereira!!!! Obrigadão pelo capricho nos detalhes, da porcelana à farofa!!
Carne Louca is delicious! The bread has a nice crunch layer to the top, the bed sat on the caramelized onions and sliced peppers and melted mozzarella cheese. Perfect sandwich to have on a lunch stop.
Overall experience I thought was alright. Espresso is ok and the chicken empanada was really good. The empanada had a nice texture, flavorful, and is kept in a really warm case. Pricing wise, it's ok. It was a little over $8 altogether but part of that is to blame on the current shortage of materials thus why the prices are a little inflated. This coffee shop is perfectly nestled in the heart of downtown Oak Park and should be given a try.
Good coffee and breakfast sandwiches but the empanadas are what keep us coming back! Lots of veg empanada options: 4 cheese, guava&cheese, spinach&sundried tomatoes.
If you are looking for the best empanadas in the area, you've found them at Mulata Kitchen + Coffee! Quick service, friendly staff, and the smells are free! Great place for lunch or coffee and conversation. You never know who you might run into while there.Food: 5/5
A cozy and special corner in Oak Park. I'll start with their coffee - it's absolutely great. Something about the beans they use is exactly right. I've been to Brazil and it does remind me of the type of coffee there, which tends to be a darker roast. Food is amazing too. You have to try their empanadas. The mushrooms one is my personal favorite. If you want a bit of sweet, try the guava cheese empanada, it has a great savory-sweet balance and the guava jam in there is just fantastic. I tried their vegetarian sandwich too and it is delicious. The atmosphere is always cozy and inviting. Workers are nice and it has a feeling of a family business but with everything being neat and well managed. I would give them an extra star if I could for not going crazy with raising prices like other places did. If I have a choice between the places around this part of Oak Park, this will be my first choice. One downside is that it is relatively small so if you are looking for a place to study or work it might be difficult when it's busy. Otherwise, when tables are available, it's great for studying as well. Too bad it's not open on Sundays! But I guess we all need a day off.
The garlic chicken sandwich was such an amazing flavor! This was my first experience with Brazilian food, and I'll definitely be going back. All of the staff are so friendly and efficient. My only complaint is that it's very tiny and cramped, hard to get a table. But that's a testiment to their popularity!Food: 5/5
