Lou Malnati's Pizzeria
"About Lou Malnati's PizzeriaConsidered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati's is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor.Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940's working in Chicago's first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati's Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago's best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday."

First time trying deep dish. Maybe it wasn’t for me. So crusty and just a big sauce mess. Both the cheese and mushroom were not a vibe. Espresso martini was good and reasonably priced. Ok service but friendly. Yummy Caesar salad and nice family atmosphere!
The best deep dish pizza and some of the best thin crust. I love this place everything is so good. They also have some of the best cheese bread and calamari. I would definitely recommend this place Vegetarian options: They have the Lou which is mushrooms and veggies and it is delicious. Really recommend it and I'm not one to eat veggies much.
Good to be back home from Florida. Service was great Sophia K, took very good care of us. Drinks were on point. I forgot to take pictures and drank it down so fast. Oak Park Lou Malnati's you rock.
I brought my husband to Chicago to meet my family and one place that came highly recommended was Lou Malnati’s…so we took him. Me and my niece are not fans of deep dish but he wanted to try it so I ordered a large classic deep dish for him but we asked that half be the normal classic and the other half be pepperoni and I also ordered a medium thin crust for me and my niece to split. My husband was so excited that he saved his appetite and hadn’t eaten since 7am we arrived at 6pm and ordered right away. The waitress took our order without writing a single thing down and after 45-50 min of a wait, the pizzas came out. One was perfect medium thin crust with sausage and the other was half veggie and half pep….I never asked for veggie…and the kids at the table would not have eaten veggie pizza so I asked if we’d be discounted to have to wait for them to fix our order for another 45 min. We were told yes. We were so hungry and I felt bad eating in front of those who were waiting so we all 5 ended up splitting our tiny medium thin crust and had like 2 squares each…after another 45 min, the deep dish finally came out and while she was serving it, I requested two cookie pizza desserts which our waitress informed us that she was going to make sure both were on the house for all of our troubles. It wasn’t until after she walked away that I realized our order was wrong AGAIN. Instead of half sausage half pep, she brought us half sausage AND pep and half cheese only…I don’t know how she could have gotten that one wrong because after I requested it, my husband repeated the order verbatim. I can only chalk it up to she didn’t write anything down again. So I asked for the manager and she informed me that it was actually a system error and she gave us the pizza free. We would have been satisfied had we not received our ticket and realized that despite being promised free dessert, we were charged full price for the thin crust PLUS both desserts. At this point I had no fight left in me so we paid the ticket and left. I will say, we handled this situation professionally as well and did not treat the staff poorly, in fact we reiterated over and over how we were not trying to be rude but maybe the staff needs to be writing things down. The least they could have done was give us the desserts plus the deep dish free. Needless to say, my husband and I will not be returning and next time will go with what my first option would have been pequods pizza.
Good deep dish personal pizza! The crust did lack a little flavor, and the pizza took a while to get to my table after I’d ordered, especially considering I was there at an “off” time ~3:10 p.m. on a Monday.Recommended dishesChicago Deep Dish Pizza
Wish I had realized earlier that this pizza topping was on the menu. It was absolutely fantastic on my sausage pizza. ******fresh spinach mix enhanced with garlic, basil & onion******
I went with a couple friends to watch Monday night football and the bulls game and everything was really good and the beer was cold which was great. The only thing that I wish could've been a little better is the volume in the game, you can't hear the game at all just a little music. If we could hear the game to be able to get into it, that would've been the 5th star! But iverall it was cool and definitely going back. The bartender was also our waiter and he was great, he definitely gets 5 stars, he was the coolest guy and gave excellent service!!
The atmosphere was inviting and fun, and staff were accommodating when I requested a phoned in pre-order. We arrived and were seated however the pizza arrived at least 15 minutes later than the i was told over the phone it would be ready by, and the deep dish pizza had an uncomfortably hard, crunchy crust. I'm not sure if that's typical of their deep dish, however I wouldn't get it again if that's the case.
High expectations met by low quality service. I’ve never been to Chicago, but I had high expectations for the Chicago Classic Deep Dish. So we were really nice when we complained, and the staff was nice as well, but this was probably one of the worst services I’ve ever had. We had ordered a thin crust, and the Classic which comes with sausage by default, and simply ordered for half to have the sausage swapped with pepperoni. After almost 40 minutes, our Classic order came out wrong. We sent it back while repeating the order twice. After another 40-45 minutes meanwhile people have eaten and left and eaten again around us our order comes out wrong again. Our waitress seemed to be ignoring us as she never even came back to ask us if we needed water refills while we were waiting. We later ordered two dessert cookies which they said we wouldn’t be charged for. We spoke to the manager who was very friendly, and told us they’d take the pizza off so the only thing we should have been charged for was the thin pizza, but when we got our tab, they expected us to pay full price while only taking off the one pizza. At this point we were exhausted - not just from complaining, but it was also late at night as well. We didn’t want to wait yet again to speak to someone, so we just decided to pay and leave, as we just wanted to get out of there. Needless to say, my expectations were high. I feel like even if the service was perfect, the pizza wasn’t worth the hype. The fact that horrible service was associated with it, made it much worse. Perhaps our waitress was in training. My wife asked her the second time if she wanted to write our order down but she didn’t. The manager said it was a system error that made our order wrong, so who knows. All I know is that Sam’s Club $10 pizza was much better than this.
Good Pizza and great drinks. Next time I come here I won’t be the designated driver. Recommended dishesChicago Classic Deep Dish Pizza, Sausage Pizza
