Very nice restaurant and great staff. We enjoyed the Valentine's date night special menu. Decent price and lots of flavor. The tomato starter was pretty nice. Really enjoyed the Cajun chicken and ancient grains. Sticky toffee pudding is always a must with me and though this one was the biggest piece of stick toffee I've ever seen, it had more of a cakey texture too it. Very enjoyable nonetheless.
We stopped in for my nephews birthday. The owner overheard our birthday celebrations, and offered some amazing appetizers to heighten our experience! We received three mouth watering appetizers on the house. Amazing place for any occasion with polite and helpful staff, and the owner going the extra mile. Birthday dessert was on the house as well! Seriously over the top presentation, amazing flavours and everyone enjoyed. We will definitely return soon and hopefully everyone checks out his location. Great work on creating a memorable night!
Had my 8 year anniversary dinner with my wife. Our server was great. Food quality was good with normal proportions. Located in the Sandman hotel complex. Easy to get to you with lots of parking. Ordered chicken fettuccine and tuna poke bowl Would go there again.
I went to this restaurant with my friend and kids after a day trip to Langley. My review consists of three parts: kids friendliness, food and service/premise 1 star for kids friendliness: summary: this restaurant is very under prepared for kids. Not recommended if you are brining kids 1. Crayons and coloring paper wasn't offered up front, but until towards the end of our dining time. 2. We were offered to seat in a bar level table instead of a low table despite we have a 1.5 year old and a 4 year old. And the booster seats were only brought over after 10-15 minutes while the kids were all over the place with nothing to engage their attention. 3. The water was offered in an actual glass instead of a plastic or paper cup with lid on for spill proof. 4. The kids menu was nothing special compared to other restaurants except it came with drinks a cool dessert. 3 stars for the food: for the kids food, the chicken was too dry and literally burned with a big piece of black on the surface. My 1.5 year old who usually eats well on her own picked out the chicken pieces and threw them away. I ordered stake with mushroom sauce. It was way too salty to my pallet because not only the salt was found on the sauce, but also in the meshed potato. The stake cooked exactly as I ordered it. But the salty taste ruined in it. Even the vegetable was quite oily and salty too and somewhat burnt. Maybe that's their styles. Some people might like it. Not me. 4 stars for the service/premise: friendly greeting front desk staffs. Professional looking plate delivery staffs. Our server attended to our needs just in time e.g., pour water or give us napkins. Big screens for sports and games all over the restaurant, even in the washroom. Clean and organized restrooms. People are well spaced out for COVID concerns. Lots of entrances and exits available. Corner seats in the enclosed patio does not get too much heat, but get the breeze from the windows. But if you sit in the middle, you will be warmed up.
Had a good time there with colleagues, we had the dineout lunch menu. The food was good but not great. The service was very good though. I'd go again, would like to go during summer and sit on their patio.
Horrible experience, horrible service. we went to the restaurant in June this year. We have 3 adults and 1 kid. We ordered Calamari and Nachos first. When Calamari and Nachos came, the servicer did not come to our table again for 45 minutes, did not come to ask drinks, did not come to order main meal. We all had a strong feeling that because we are Asian, and servicer thought we might just order Appetizers. We saw our table waitress went to other tablets, refilled the water, chatted with them but not our table. After 45 minutes, she did not come and I had to stop her and told her we want to order food. I highly recommend Asians, do not come to this restaurant.
Meh. I stay at this hotel a couple times a month. Dining in is always great. Room service is another story, I’ve left feedback with the hotel but nothing changes. There’s a $5 room service fee plus 18% gratuity for dropping the food at you door. That’s a little steep especially when they never bring condiments like salt, pepper extra napkins etc. also they’ve switched to dropping off a can instead of a nice drink in a glass with ice. I ordered it with lime and every time they only bring a can and no lime, glass or ice. I mentioned it to the server who dropped it off, and asked where it was and salt and pepper but he just said “oh” did you want that stuff” and I said I ordered it which he had in his hands but I saw the look on his face so I said don’t worry about it. So room service means you pay more and get less both in product and service. I’ll order skip from now on unless I feel like dining in alone. I feel like for 18% tip PLUS the $5 it should be a better experience but it’s less. For the record, I tip 20% in restaurant typically all the time and even when I get take out a tip quite well 15-18% so it’s not about the amount it’s about the lack of value.
I would say that this is most lively restaurant of all times. Located next to sandman hotel, its location is easily accessible. Abundant parking available. Huge space divided into main floor dining, first floor n then the sexy rooftop. Beautiful bar all stocked up and on the side is the stage for live band. Some local musician with melodious voice was playing beautifully composed songs from 1960 n maybe longer. Rooftop has water spray pumps with fans so its not too much hot on the roof and of-course umbrellas/gazebos do the perfect shade. Amazing servers who have mastered the serving skills. Food is good and many options available. Tofu lettuce wrap was so juicy and fresh. I have never had this distinct flavour of tofu with lettuce. The tacos were yummy and overloaded just the way i love. I will be going again for another good experience and you must check it out.
I had such a great experience here!! Kim was my server and she was so personable, sweet and Nicky their assistant manager was so great as well. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area!
It was ok. Before I give a less than favorable review, it's important that I share first that Moxie's has served me one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life. But that was an old downtown location. This visit was for brunch, and it wasn't great. I got the eggs Benedict and the eggs were waaay overcooked. Also, even though the staff said the hollandaise was made with butter, it sure tasted like margarine to me. ‍ Now it is fair I mention the staff was very polite and quick to solve the issue, and very apologetic for the poor execution on my meal. I was appreciative of this. Perhaps it was a new cook in the kitchen, but generally speaking I would probably not visit for brunch again, or at least approach with caution. Again, the times I've had dinner with Moxie's it has been a pleasant experience. This is likely more an exception than the rule.
