Monga Fried Chicken is a restaurant chain known for their crispy, juicy fried Taiwanese style chicken. There are two bistro style tables but this shop is set up for mainly takeout orders. I got the Taiker Okinawan seaweed flavoured signature fried chicken $11.99 which was made fresh to order, & prepared within 10 minutes. Even after driving home, the coating was crisp and the chicken breast meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. The portion size was generous, easily shareable between 2 people. The staff were friendly and happily answered my questions about the menu offerings. Highly recommend!
Great place for Taiwanese-style fried chicken! The Chicken is really fresh and you know that they fry this to order. It's really hot to bite in so be careful! Other than that it's super crunchy. Great customer service! The staff is very helpful to explain the wait time.
Another Great Taiwanese Fried Chicken franchise opened in Time Square at HWY7 & Leslie. Their special cut, signature fried chicken fillet comes with different flavors and sauces to choose from, and the BAOger has 3 different meat choices plus french fries style. They remind me of the fun time when traveling in Taiwan and going through the night market with all kinds of food stands to fill the stomach with. If you are nearby and looking for some Fried Chicken fun, this is one of foreign styles you should try with!!
This was my first time visiting, but we had a small group and decided to order three different flavours to try out. At time of ordering, we were warned it would be a 10-15 minute wait as the chicken would be made fresh. This shop is definitely takeout centric as there were only two small tables with three chairs total. We brought the chicken home to eat about a 15 minute drive. The chicken was still hot, juicy, and flavourful. We had the Anaheim Pepper, Black Pepper & Salt, and Okinawa Seaweed flavours. All delicious!
The chicken was good. The skin/breading is crispy and oil doesn’t get through the white bag which makes it nice to hold. I ordered the salt and pepper original and the flavor was good though I wish there was more seasoning/juice in the meat itself. The chicken isn’t dry but not as juicy as other places. The portion size is good :
Have ordered here twice and both times was kind of a let down. Really wanted to like it which is why we gave it another try because we are big supporters of all things Taiwanese big unfortunately we found the chicken is dry and not that flavourful. Be prepared to wait a long time for your order as well. We know they prepare it fresh so we ordered it well in advance. We were told our take out would be ready on time but when we arrived, it still wasn’t ready and we had to wait an additional 20 minutes. During those 20mins, we were able to place an order for a rice and noodle dish at another restaurant in the same plaza and received that order before our meal was ready for pick up at Monga.
Not only are these fried chicken pieces huge but they come in a variety of flavours and spices. Because it is my first time, I opted to try their signature Taiwanese style fried chicken and popular fried fillet that has been marinated in Honey in three of their popular flavours: Original Fried Chicken-Spicy The King Black pepper and salt Original Fried Chicken-Okinawa Seaweed My favourite is their The King Prime Chicken Fillet, the black pepper and salt really shined through and you can taste the honey marinate. Wait time may be long so order ahead on their app!
My new go to place for taiwanese fried chicken! Not my first time at Monga but it is my first time to this new location! And for being new, they seemed to have worked out all the kinks fairly quickly! Food was remarkable as always! Chicken was crispy and once you break that fried goodness of skin, the chicken just juices up. Very tender and very moist. The chicken for life combo seems to be the item to get! You get the massive piece of fried chicken, two choice of either wings / tenders / nuggets and a large box of fries making this the perfect amount for a family of four. I have gone to a competitor who had just opened up a location and tried them twice and both times failed to provide what was actually on the combo for orders, so to know Monga got it right the first time and flawlessly, I’m sold for life on them! Service was amazing as well! Ordered through the app and even let me do a substitution that wasn’t in the app yet. And no issues! The girl behind the counter helping out was super friendly and patient too! Great job overall! Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics, vids and more amazing content!
Tried the original fried chicken fillet, very tasty especially if you eat it right away but didn't expect that it included the breast carcass. Overall yummy. Need to go back to try other items.
The plum pickle salt fried chicken is sooo good! My favourite place for Taiwanese fried chicken. The batter is perfectly crispy and the cheese fried chicken does not skimp on the cheese. Can’t wait to come back!
