Mill Inn

Story

The Sheridan Flouring Mills, also known as the Mill Inn, are an industrial complex in Sheridan, Wyoming. The mills were a major component of the economy of north central Wyoming, providing collection, storage and milling of locally-produced wheat and other grains into flour and other milled products. The original mill was established by Captain Scott W. Snively in the early 1890s. The Sheridan Milling and Manufacturing Company was sold to J.W. Denio in 1903, who operated the mill at its location on Broadway Avenue near downtown Sheridan. A catastrophic fire destroyed this mill in 1919, resulting in the purchase of a new location on Coffeen Avenue and construction of a much larger mill. The present complex was built in 1920-21 for J.W. Denio by Ballinger and McAllister of Bloomington, Illinois. It consists of a reinforced concrete mill building with a long two-story wing and a more compact six-story section, adjoined by a reinforced concrete grain elevator with seven pairs of grain tanks. The elevator features a large logo with a cowboy on a bucking horse and the legend "Best Out West Enriched Flour, Tomahawk Feeds For Livestock and Poultry, Sheridan Flouring Mills, Inc." The elevator building is 144ft high, while the grain tanks are 110ft high. The mill therefore dominates the skyline of Sheridan. The mill was purchased by Nebraska Consolidated Mills Company in 1963, the firm that became Con-Agra in 1971. The mill was upgraded in 1967, but closed in 1972. In 1974 a local corporation purchased the mill and converted it into a hotel in 1977-1978. As part of the hotel renovation, the interior partitions were removed from the mill building and new windows were installed, partially closing the openings with masonry.

I just absolutely fell in love with this place. Staff was very kind and helpful. Just opening the door to the room and seeing two dog bowls on the floor for my pup was very heartwarming. I have told family and friends what a wonderful place it is to stay at. I will definitely be staying there again when I visit Sheridan.
Conveniently located just off I-90 within walking distance of plenty of food, the rooms are sparkling clean and very comfortable, fridge and microwave, small table with two chairs, small wardrobe. Very thoughtfully designed and laid out and the theme and history are cute!nnThey offer a limited number of pet rooms for a $30 fee total, not per pet which was nice and those rooms included pet food dishes. All rooms lead directly outside. Staff is kind and welcoming.nnContinental breakfast from 6am-9am, honestly my only recommendation for improvement, as the offerings were sparse in terms of protein. Slices of white bread, a few kinds of cereal, a tub of vanilla yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cups of peanut butter, canned peaches, and a waffle maker. There was coffee and tea too. Nowhere to fill a water bottle, but bottles of water available for purchase for $1 at the desk.
Leaving another review. I have stayed her twice so far and I appreciate the clean and tidy rooms. And the service is good too. Their breakfast is ok if you need something simple before getting back to your travels. I would definitely pick this place again to stay.
Everything was just mediocre and the price was high for mediocre. I will say it was one of the busiest weeks when we stayed there. But the price didn't match the room. Breakfast was pretty decent - make your own waffles with real butter along with some other options. Shawna working the front desk was amazingly friendly and awesome during mad check-in chaos.
This place was amazing and clean. The person helping me was very friendly and helpful. I apologize for an earlier review it was for a different hotel. I would stay here again anytime. I'm a little disabled so I needed a ground floor room if possible, and she got me a sweet on the corner, and at$135.00 a night, I thought it was very reasonable. Thankyou. And please accept my apologies for the earlier comments that I have removed.
