Not sure how the rating went from 2 stars to 3.8, but let me assure you that is not an honest reflection.nnSienna homes are terrible. If we were not in an emergency situation we would have never put my dad here. They are experts at ignoring the needs of residents, and pretending to care. Abuse runs rampant, basic needs that support health are ignored. The management do not support staff or families in any way that would actually make a difference. This company makes record profits, while supplies to care for wounds are not available, run out or simply not ordered.nnMy dad sat so uncomfortably in dining chairs because there isn't a single couch or comfortable chair in the place, and he developed a back issue, and his neck was turned to one side. Poor guy was so uncomfortable.nnThis home exemplifies everything that is wrong with the private, semi-private long-term care system. If I didn't take my dad outside every day, he would have never had any fresh air. Worse than prison.nWhatever is on the calendar, such as evening walks or really any activity, you can assume that these are lies.nnCan't guarantee that another home is better, but please do your loved one a favour and avoid Midland Gardens like the plague.
Beautiful facility! I did a tour today with one of the RFCs. He was very knowledgeable and caring towards all the residents. I highly recommend all families to tour Midland Gardens and see for yourself. This is a senior's home with lovely caretakers and nurses around. They consider resident as their priority and try to provide the same environment as home.
Midland Gardens Care Community became an integral part of our lives for almost 4 years. I am immensely thankful for the exceptional care team, particularly the dedicated third floor nurses a special shout-out to Thien and Collin and the compassionate PSWs especially Larry, who was my Dad's favorite. These individuals went above and beyond in tending to my Dad until he passed away on June 1st of this year. I am profoundly grateful for the kindness, empathy, and support shown to us when we needed it the most. Thank you for being a true source of comfort during a difficult time.
I’ve been a resident of this home for around 8 years and it’s chronically understaffed. Not to mention that staff are coming and going like crazy.nnOver eight years:nManagement is always changing even though they say they aren’t going anywhere. Currently the ADOCs and DOC have been here since Covid but we have been through 5 maintenance managers and 2 dietary management people, too many DOCs to count and I think 5 Eds. These numbers don’t reflect the current ones on staff.nnResidents are not showered when they are short on the floors and we are only allowed MAX two showers per week.nClothes get stolen and damaged when we residents send them down to be washed by the contracted company Marquis yet they claim that they are not responsible for bleaching, tearing or “loosing” our clothing and beddings.nMany staff gossip about everything in the building. Nothing is confidential here and there is NO such thing as whistle blower protection.nIf you say something you are deemed a problem. Even if it is to ensure that your human rights are upheld.nCare plans are only followed when it’s convenient to the staff so don’t expect them to do any extra work. I am not given the opportunity to go to the bathroom for instance and have had to be hospitalized for bowel blocks. I am now bowel incont completely and it is leading to increased problems. I was told it’s because I am in a wheelchair that I am not “toileted”nComplaints made to DOC or other management is generally managed by the social worker.nResident on resident and staff on resident abuse is a very real thing here and it is not always easy to spot. For example verbal and emotional, isolation which can be due to language, cultural, age, disability etc.nI actually had my nose broken and a few bruises including a black eye by a resident because I would not give them a cigarette. This was the incident that led to the call bell being installed outside in 2017.nnCircle cafe is rarely open and is usually out of supplies of some kind and library/ Multi faith room is often only available to us in the evening and weekends as it’s used for staff meetings yet it’s a resident area.nnRoom curtains which include windows and blue privacy curtains should be changed when a resident moves out and another moves in or after an outbreak and on a schedule.nnReturn to the old deep cleans where everything was moved out of the room and the entire room was cleaned and minor repairs were made like the light bulb and change batteries in hand sanitizer. Same with the buffing of the rooms.nnExpect favouritism and a double standard where residents are not allowed to be a human in the place that is meant to be our home but it’s okay for them to.nnKeep your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed. And always keep pantry items for when they mess up with diets.nnFYI: The Tours that they give are staged.nnI also think it’s appalling that Sienna/ Midland has their own staff buying stocks and writing google reviews to make you look better
Huge and spacious home.Residents are well taken care of.nWe have confidence that our loved ones are safe and comfortable here.
