Horribly unprofessional. I was required to get a letter from a psychiatrist to start my hormone therapy and my experience with Dr. Meer was nothing short of a nightmare. He barely let me speak about my own experiences, constantly talked over me and asked questions that had nothing to do with why I was there. The end of that appointment should have been the end of it. However, instead he told me that he did not trust my own judgment about my own body and health and required me to make a second appointment- a month out I might add- to ask for my husbands permission first. Once that appointment came and my husband was on the call he was a completely different person, he was nice to him, never talked over or interrupted him, and smiled and laugh. Once he talked to my husband he deemed me “stable” enough to receive my letter so I could finally start my HRT. This also should have been the end of it but it is not. He had a month to send the letter to my doctor and never did. My doctor and his staff AND MYSELF had to call every single day for WEEKS to get him to send that letter that was the whole reason I went to Dr. Meer in the first place and when he finally sent it over, it was so deeply incomprehensible that my doctor was STILL unable to start my treatment. We both had to continue to call this office to try to get a simple “yes or no” he told me at the end of our second appointment he had absolutely no issue with telling my doctor to go ahead with treatment and couldn’t get ahold of him for weeks. I had to go to a completely different doctor after being pushed around by this one for weeks and weeks for nothing. He is unprofessional, incompetent, misogynistic, transphobic, and gatekeeping. Please save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. Anywhere else.
I'm absolutely horrified by this office. If I could give it less than a star that I would in a heartbeat. I was going to make an appointment here, but when I heard how they treated their patients I realized they don't worry about patient care AT ALL. It's all about their own misogynistic and religious views, which should have nothing to do with psychology. They don't actually treat you at all. My friends and family have told me they came out of this practice worse than when they went in, and were triggered multiple times by members of the staff to such a degree that they will not seek out psychiatric help again from any psychiatric place in the future. What kind of a person makes their clients seek to stop getting the help or service they need from anyone? This practice here does. I will be going elsewhere, and I strongly suggest you do too. Literally, go anywhere but here.
I have GAD. I’ve been taking a high dosage of a benzodiazepine. This Dr, told me, tht I take these, because, of another Drs. failure. Tht I dnt need them, and just stopped, my prescription. Anyone who knows, about Benzos, knows, tht titrating, would be the best way, to cease, the script. Due to the severity, of the withdrawal symptoms, after 10 yrs of use, at the highest dose, allowable. Point being, titration, was discussed, a time, was not. He just stopped, filling my script, and then, gave me, 1/3 of the dose, I take. Without, discussing, this with me, beforehand. I have had multiple seizures, insomnia, heart palpitations, nausea, vomiting, and horrible, panic attacks. I tried to stop cold turkey, alone, and almost died, both times. NO consideration, was given. And then he, slandered me, to his fellow colleagues. A matter, I will be taking up, with the Office of Professional Medical conduct, along with, the recorded, interaction, in which, he was enraged. As a Dr, I believe, titration, is a plausible, alternative. But, safely. I feel, as though my life, is in danger.
