Dr Thomas/Tri-State Pain has moved. Now on Peach St. All the images are of old location. Referrals to Surgery keep getting lost. Office issue. He is a decent pain management doctor...but until issues with referrals...medication refills etc get straightened out...2 stars at best. This is a review of the Business NOT the Doctor.
Dr. Thomas is a great pain management doctor. If it wasn’t for him I probably wouldn’t be walking today.
Dr Thomas and his staff have been nothing but caring and helpful. I have been a patient for 15 or more years. He is a good man. Update have not slept for months as my arms were going numb at night. Saw him yesterday and slept for the first time in months. Dr Thomas is the best at what he does. I did not feel anything during the procedure. I can not say in words how much he has helped me through the years...
I am so great full I found dr Thomas he has helped me so much with my pain. The staff are very pleasant to deal with. If you are thinking of going to a pain management for pain , don’t hesitate you could be out of pain and live life better, Thank you to all the drs and staff.
My husband has been suffering for 5 months with chronic back pain. We finally turned to Dr. Ma. I can’t even begin to say enough fantastic things about this man. Never have we ever had the incredible care that we have received from any health care professional. Dr. Ma is efficient, professional, personable and it is obvious that he truly cares about each and every one of his patients. We will forever be grateful for having received his care.
My mother has been paralyzed for over 30 years, Since coming to Erie there has been nothing but issues getting her a pain doctor, She was sent to tristate Dr.KO who was excellent after nearly Dying in rehab @ Millcreek Hospital. She is 73 has heart issues a severed spinal cord and cancer, needless to say Detox or withdrawals are not and option anymore. When Dr. Ko left, we were advised that we would need to go to another practice, not a problem at first ..... we requested records sent and a list referrals which we received. The issues began when her refill came up , a few days after we got our letter. The refill was for half the number of pills she is normally prescribed not enough to get her to her referral appt, which then led to them needing to write an additional one, this raised an insurance flag which delayed filling again. They then scheduled an in person appt for her so they could refill her rx, which they cancelled later that week. My mom went to the hospital for her withdrawal symptoms. Tri state delayed calling us back and gave no apology for the mistake. Finally we got the script and were looking forward to going to another office. When we arrived at our new Dr's They said they never received the records from the previous hospital and we would need to reschedule the appt was a month or so out. When I called to explain this to Tri state they said they would only fill enough to the appt which was great, but when we got to the pharmacy Dr. Thomas who has never seen nor spoken to my mom Changed her rx to half her daily dose BID from QID. This is very dangerous in an elderly patient with heart issues, high blood pressure as well as neuro disorders. When I called them about this the Nurses agreed and said they would have the prescription corrected but that was not done in a timely fashion and again my mother ended up in the ER. When I called to talk to nurse I got he voice mail during which I explained the events that have been leading to my frustration and at the very least that the office call my mothers PCP to have them fill her rx until she could be seen by the new Dr. That I felt that they were causing my mother harm by neglecting to handle this process correctly and they should be filling her rx's until she see's the new Dr. I got a very nasty call back from Dr. Thomas who was funnily enough inaudible e except for the fact that I heard do not call back. The staff acts as if my mother is a pill seeker and not a legitimate patient, she was PA herself before her injury and we are all medical professionals in this house, The mistake made was their inability to treat each patient fairly and with respect, I know many of their clients and can safely say they receive more meds than my mom with far less ailments, and receive far more respect. tough break for tristate, the laws only go so far in their favor, when it comes to endangering a patient and willful neglect that leads to further injury, hospitalization or death. She tried taper alternative meds and detox, all were deemed medically inappropriate. What is with Dr. Thomas providing excess for some and none to others? There should be an investigation done
I have been in pain for over a year and finally my family made me take time away from work to get checked out. Dr Ma is very serious just like myself. Dr Ma gets down to the root of pain and treats quickly. He even personally called me after a treatment, excellent Doctor who I very much trust and will recommend.
Great staff and Doctors that make sure you get the care you need. In my case they make sure I do not become dependent on my meds. My spinal cord stimulator works wonders. Everyone has a smile. I have been coming here for over 10 years, I have bone on bone in my spine but the staff makes it manageable.
I have been a patient at Tri State Pain for going on 5 years now. Dr. Thomas and Physician Assistant Aaron Kleps have taken care of me every step of the way. Before living in PA I had several neurosurgeons and pain management doctors who ran spinal cord stimulators through me. Dr. Thomas ran the 3rd and final stimulator that provides enough relief on a daily basis for me to function like a normal person. Dr. Thomas is by far the best at running the wires under your skin. He is exceptionally good at it. As for Aaron, I look forward to visiting with him every two months during the state mandated routine visits. He treats me as a person, not as a patient. He is concerned about what's going on in my life and if there is anything he can do to help. He isn't arrogant and will look things up if he doesn't know the answer. We figure things out together and I greatly appreciate it. The reason for 4 stars is the office staff and nurses seem stressed and overwhelmed more times than not. Although, I can only imagine the kinds of ridiculous patients that they have to deal with on a daily basis. It has to wear them down. If you're in need of pain management services I highly recommend Tri-State Pain Institute.
Dr. Thomas and the PAs are wonderful. They are compassionate and really care about managing your pain. The staff, however, is mostly the opposite. They interrupt you when talking, act like they don't want to be working and generally don't care about the patients. There are a few nice ones but the majority are miserable and really shouldn't be working with people.
