My sisters and I stayed at this Great bed and breakfast in August and had a wonderful time. Enjoyed the country life seeing the animals and visiting with the fabulous owners. The rooms were very comfortable, breakfast was exceptional. Loved the town of New Glarus and all the good restaurants. If looking for a cozy country settings this is the place for you! Plus they own the Cow and Quince restaurant in New Glarus another great place to eat. Book your stay soon!😊🐐

Fantastic experience. Lovely people with a fantastic farm home to share with you. We took are two little girls with use and had a great time. They have goats, pigs, chickens and a couple of dogs. My oldest girl (3 years old) loved the animals. Their restaurant is terrific. We spent about 5 days in June.

My wife and I (along with my brother and sister in law and another married couple) rented all three rooms at the Lucky Dog Farm Stay for a long weekend away from our homes in the suburbs of St.Paul, MN. Our itinerary included the tour at New Glarus Brewery on Friday and spending the day in Chicago before leaving on Sunday. Our experience with the establishment as well as the owners was nothing but delightful for us. I have chosen to right this view as a breakdown of how a typical day on our trip transpired in an attempt to give you an idea what to expect. The Rooms: Each room is an exceptional size with comfortable, well adorned beds. As someone who frequently encounters subpar sleep, I was pleased to sleep solidly throughout the night each night (it should be noted my first night back home was back to the usual poor sleep). Early Hours: Each morning I would wake and come downstairs to a fresh pot of their own organic blend of coffee (which was smooth and light, very accessible) and a different fresh baked good to whet my appetite (oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, blueberry coffee cake and banana bread). After a relaxing, languorous morning in which we all bathed and got dressed, we would then head into the town proper to enjoy our breakfast at Cow & Quince. Breakfast: Cow & Quince is a cafe opened by the owners of Lucky Dog Farms and operated day-to-day by the family. They make fantastic use locally grown product, including produce, meats and dairy products. I won't go into a long breakdown of C&Q as this is a review of LDF, but I will tell you that you get a $10 credit per person/per day at C&Q to enjoy breakfast/lunch and every meal, every day was fantastic. The six of us over three mornings had ourselves quite the tour of the menu. From there, we spent the rest of our day out and about. Major points I would make for anyone considering a stay: 1) This is not a Bed & Breakfast in the way you probably think of it. It is more like a European style "farm stay" in which you are staying in a room with the family who owns the farm. 2) You should be an animal lover. This should be a no-brainer, but I fear as this place becomes more popular there will be people complaining about the rural-ness and the animals. There are cats and dogs and you're staying in their home as much as you are staying in the home of Lori and LeAnn. There are ways to separate yourself from them, but if you are not an animal lover, please seek stay elsewhere. 3) You will not have breakfast in the main building, instead breakfast will be provided to you in the cafe which is located inside the town proper, a whopping four mile trip. 4) The Rindy and Wild Room have a shared bathroom in the upstairs, privacy is easy to obtain. This is common of European style lodgings, and you will even see it at the American "Ace" hotels chain. 5) Lori and LeAnn are personable and knowledgeable, they are more than happy to be a resource for you during your stay in New Glarus. In summary, if you read those five points and think "I'm down with that", go ahead and book. You will not regret it. If you're a "city-slicker" looking for a pool and a fitness center and all that, go someplace else and leave this gem for the rest of us.
