I have had the amazing paella. I never thought artichoke hearts could that nice, the service was quick and staff were very helpful. Not many gluten free options but the staff made sure take care allergy specific instructions. If you're looking for quiet place for talk and nice Spanish dinner in Halifax this is your place.
I almost didn't end up going to Los Toros for dinner and I know now that I would have regretted missing this amazing opportunity to enjoy scrumptious food. The paella was delicious and arrived fairly quickly. I liked how the dish had both shrimp with shell and without shell on. Very helpful for my picky husband that doesn't like peeling his shells. The mussels were cooked to perfection and very smooth tasting. The chorizo added a kick of heat while the chicken blended well with all of it. The rice was packed full of saffron that you could taste, smell, and see. My plate was covered with left over oil but I scraped every grain of rice. My husband also ordered a sangria, the rose petal, which has a rose wine from Spain and I am enticed by the sweetness of the drink. I'm a picky drinker everything tastes sour or bitter, so I highly recommend it for people who like sweeter drinks.
I can't say enough good things about this place! Due to a recent surgery, I have a difficult time navigating restaurants due to new dietary considerations, but the food here was PERFECT! And very reminiscent of a trip we took to Spain years ago - very authentic Spanish food! It was a lovely sunny day, and we were looking for something filling, but light, so that we didn't feel "heavy" after our lunch. My husband had the most beautiful salad, and I had the scallops tapas, and both were exactly the right choice. The food was delicious, the service was perfect, and the location was beautiful.
Wonderful food and warm, friendly service! Server Danielle was a joy! My husband and I shared a smoked salmon and crab crostini app, Valencia paella, and churros for dessert. Portions are large. Our first authentic paella and we loved it! So delicious!
Ordered the seafood paella for 2-3 people and the churros. Paella was more than enough for 2 people. If you were 3 hungry eaters however, might not be enough. In terms of taste - great! However, I would have liked to have tasted the spices a bit more. It seems like the prawns is what captured the most flavour. Although one shrimp did not seemed to be deveined, the rest were. The shells on 1-2 of the prawns were pretty hard to get off, but then again it’s paella, you need to use your hands! Churros were amazing - fresh, warm, crunchy on the outside, doughy in the middle. The chocolate dipping sauce was not necessary, but was not the best given that it seemed milk/watered down or maybe it was the type of chocolate syrup used. Service was top! I believe our waiter’s name was Ryan. He was quick, attentive and respectful. Great conversationalist as well. Nothing to complain there. Keep up the good work. We sat outside as it was a warm summer evening. There were some fruit flies, but not enough to bother us during our meal. The inside of the restaurant was very nice and clean, and so were the bathrooms. The location is weird due to it’s proximity to the ferry terminal on one side and the Tim Hortons on the other. But honestly, if it was placed anywhere else, I imagine it would be at par with the other high end restaurants on the waterfront. In terms of price, it was all decent given the level of inflation we are dealing with in 2022 - $90. If anything I would say the Churros were on the expensive side for how many you get. Definitely recommend to quell that paella craving!
10/10 would recommend! We had the most delicious meal, so many amazing flavors. Our server, Paul, was incredible and gave great suggestions off the menu. We really enjoyed our experience and cannot wait to come back. The chicken and chorizo.... It was so amazing. The salmon.... Goodness. We truly cannot wait to go back!
Dry friendly staff, great menu variety, gluten free options availableask and don’t go by the menu gf labels, nice patio and view. Not Spanish and authentic. It is a Mexican adaptation of Spanish food.
If you're looking for a stunning waterfront location with delicious tapas and an atmosphere that will transport you to Spain, look no further than Los Toros. This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who loves great food, beautiful decor, and a fantastic view. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warm, inviting decor that immediately sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The attention to detail is evident in every corner of the restaurant, from the ornate tile work to the glass wine wall. But it's not just the decor that sets Los Toros apart - it's the food. The tapas selection is simply outstanding, with each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Whether you're in the mood for classic dishes like patatas bravas and Spanish tortilla, or you want to try something new like the pulpo a la gallega octopus with paprika and potatoes, you won't be disappointed. Of course, the waterfront location is another standout feature of Los Toros. As you enjoy your meal, you'll be treated to stunning views of the harbor and the nearby boats, creating a truly memorable dining experience. Overall, I can't recommend Los Toros enough. The decor, the location, and the tapas all come together to create an experience that's simply unforgettable. So whether you're a local or just visiting Halifax, be sure to put Los Toros at the top of your list of must-visit restaurants.
Just come here, don't ask questions. Order the paellas, doesn't matter which one they are all great. Then have a chilled glass of white wine and enjoy life with your bourgeois friends. ***Laughs in delicious***
