Having lived in the L'Amoreaux area for over 10 years, I've never noticed this small and somewhat hidden Chinese/Cantonese Barbeque BBQ take-out place located at the small plaza on the Northwest corner of Birchmount Rd. and Finch Ave. E. I had a quick chat with the owner and apparently they've been there for about 30 years, which is incredible for a restaurant in Toronto. I myself only found out about the place through word of mouth, through a friend that recommended it after I mentioned a Chinese BBQ craving BBQ Duck, BBQ Pork, Roasted Pork, BBQ Chicken, etc.. I suppose it's one of those restaurant gems that the local Cantonese community keeps hush-hush about, especially because they run only limited quantities of BBQ per day. By time I arrived at the restaurant at 6:30pm last night, they were already on their last servings of BBQ. So, I would recommend to get there around earlier dinner time or lunch time to get the best cuts and quantities -- likely sometime 4 to 5 pm would be good for Dinner. Keeping in mind that this is mainly a take-out place, the staff that work there were friendly nice. I didn't have any issues with ordering or having them help me figure out what dishes were best to order i.e. different combinations of BBQ and rice vs noodle options. I was surprised to know that the combo dishes were very reasonably priced. All ran me about $8-$12 each for a total of just over $30 after tax. I ordered 3 combos which are shown in photos: 1 BBQ Duck w/ Lai Fun noodles 2 Four kinds of BBQ w/ rice combo BBQ Pork, Roasted Pork, BBQ Chicken, and BBQ Ribs 3 Two kinds of BBQ w/ rice combo BBQ Chicken & Roasted Pork All dishes came with a side of veggies Gai Lan and a traditional Chinese soup! What's great about the soup is that they mentioned it is all home made and does not contain any MSG. Overall, the quality of the BBQ meat was very good. It was juicy and not dry unlike some other places. The traditional Chinese soup was tasty and healthy which was a nice touch. In short, I would certainly come here again. Great quality BBQ at a good price!
I am satisfied with the portion of my soysauce chicken+Chasiu rice
Affordable price Fair portion Tasty meat Payment method: cash only If you don’t want to cook during this hot and humid Toronto summer, Please try this place.
A little hidden gem, I don't think anywhere in this city today can get you a good meal with roasted pork, bbq duck and vegetables on rice for less than $11. I will come back when I am around the area in the future. Love it
Be careful of their scale. They weighed 2.3 lbs but I weighed 1.95 lbs with my own scale home already include weight of containers.
Great place & best BBQ peking duck...
Amazing food! I purchased the 3 items on rice and the quality of the meat was excellent. Their portion sizes are very fair and it’s evident the owners spend a lot of time and effort making the food. I will definitely be a regular customer. 6/5 review if I could.
Best roasted duck and pork in this part of Toronto. The couple who owns this place are honest, hard working people who might be a bit limited in conversation in English, but try their best to satisfy all customers with their exceptionally tasty and well priced food.
I come to this place to buy food once a week. Now this time the guy did not recognize me because of my winter work outfit & charged me way too much for the same food. So that's how this place works. They will overcharge non-chinese customers. $9.15 for fried rice & 2 tofus? Business greed! I will definitely not be coming back!
I enjoy coming to this place, whenever I get the lady shes really friendly but when i get the male, hes not as talkative and engaging, food wise I enjoy it but there was one time I purchased the pork ribs and they tasted a bit too salty, not a big deal, I will just stick to the regular stuff like roast duck or roast pork.
