NORMALLY 5 stars or 5+ stars - facilities are nice, good people, but....I miss my gym the way it was. It has been six weeks since two of my three classes were canceled. They were wonderful classes. Many, many people were upset - I counted between the two classes and at least 60 different people affected by the cancellations. Many of us wrote and complained - as politely as possible when one is upset, and we were told that they are "working on it" and that both our former teachers are under consideration. On Sunday at Hip Hop there were 8 or 9 new classes posted on the door - 4 cycle classes, yoga, sculpt, etc. - the signature classes - the way LF wants to go - tons of cycle and toning. We all looked at that list with disappointment because neither of our classes were on that list and it has been almost two months. How are they "working on it." ? Where/how? I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED my gym before. :-)

Great gym! It's a little on the pricey side I think, but the amenities are there, definitely. They upgraded and repaired the steam room, which is great since it needed repair. Most, if not all of the clientele is great and the equipment and locker rooms are always very clean. I come for the pool to get 95% of my exercise and it is almost always spotless although they should definitely have someone skim it a little better between rushes. The only thing I would change are the hours for the outdoor pool. I get it, it's dark. But I'm paying quite a bit of money and I work in restaurants. Every once in a while I want to take in a night swim outside. I don't think that's too much to ask, right? I'd even sign a waiver if that's what it took.

I'm on vacation on a holiday weekend. This location had a full schedule of group exercise classes while a location closer to my hotel had canceled most of theirs. Instructor was great, just as I expected from Lifetime. This location seemed more down to earth and less elitist, had a more senior citizens and fewer ex-cheerleaders than the one at home. On a Saturday the indoor tennis courts empty, salon not busy, cafe had one customer.

I used to LOVE Lifetime Fitness! Lifetime Fitness seems to be operating in a corporate vacuum where new signature classes are cooked up along with new ways to add layers of costs. Thus I do not feel like I have access to ALL Lifetime offers because I am a certain level. Additionally, with their signature classes, interesting and diverse classes are going away - it is all power and core and a deemphasis on mixed aerobics and unique offerings. I love Hip Hop but now it is only offered here and there. Two women in their 20s joined LF to go specifically to Hip Hop at LF Fridley because they had been searching all over the Twin Cities for Hip Hop Aerobic Fitness at various clubs. These classes are not advertised or promoted. They searched them out. Imagine what would happen if they promoted them? Two weeks after joining (just last week) one of the Hip Hop classes was abruptly cut. In that week, I lost two of three classes taught by instructors with actual dance background. The two women were shocked. The classes were then replaced by something that doesn't meet the needs of the community that loves true dance for their aerobics. And, isn't twenty somethings the demographic they want? I called and emailed the corporate headquarters to give feedback because I want LF to do well. I have been at my gym more than 10 years. Another patron said - you won't hear back. I both called and emailed. And yep, a week later, not even an acknowledgement that I gave feedback. If you do not feed and care about your community, you lose product loyalty. Old fashioned business principles actually work. They do.

To anyone who may care, Lifetime’s tennis policies are all askew. We have played USTA matches at the Moore Lake club a few times and in the summer they always try and put us outdoors and charge full indoor league pricing. Last night we had two doubles matches outside. My team had to pay $66 to play an outdoor match. The other teams also payed not sure if they got the member discounted rate but they played at least $44 and as much as $68. Outdoor courts are usually free. Why does Lifetime always make tennis players pay more.
