Had fish & chips at this joint recently and it was bomb! Real authentic, been around for 93 years so you know it's the real deal. Service was good. Highly recommend for any fish & chip lover. Gonna be back for sure!Recommended dishesFish & Chips
I recently just started exploring Danforth. This place is such a vibe, you come in and then get seated. I got the fish house special and it was so delicious! I could barely get up when I'm done. I needed some extra salt on my fries and fish though, but nonetheless it was awesome!
Came by to get lunch take-out because of the great reviews online. They sure surpassed my expectations. They absolutely now one of my new favourite fish and chip place! [ Haddock ] - The batter is light and crispy which complements the haddock extremely well because you get a nice crunch biting into it and it doesn't overpower the taste fish itself. *The light batter helps so much on not feeling greased out by end of meal* [ Chips ] - I really like the chips here. They're cut thick enough and fried where the edges are crispy and centre is fluffyjust the way I like it. More importantly they stay good up until the last fry. Overall it really enjoyed the lunch and would recommend to anybody thats looking to have top knotch fish n chips. Would definitely be coming back!
Duckworth's was my go to for lunch when I worked in the area over 20 years ago. Since then I have tried many different types of fish and chip places and none of them compares to Duckworths. The generous portion is still the same and so is the taste. Today I came from Ajax just to satisfy my craving and it's just as good. I always have the halibut and chips. The fish is never greasy its crisp and juicy inside. Just talking about makes me want to take another trip out!
It is said to be a 90-year-old place, so I respect it. but I can't say that I like it very much. hygiene 5 price 2 taste 2 ambiance 5 service quality 3
We tried the halibut for lunch. With confidence, I’d say this is one of the best places for fish and chips in the city. The portion is a bit small for someone with big appetite.
Had the halibut fish and chips and it was delicious very hearty serving of chips / fries and the fish was perfectly breaded with a light and flavourful batter. I did wish the chips were a bit more "crunchy" but I think it's just the style that I prefer. Either way, I can't wait to come back here to try other things!
This place is legendary. Have yet to eat better tasting fish and chips in the city. The tartar sauce is drinkable and is homemade and table side, none of those tiny processed packages. The gravy and fries are so good that I don’t consider them sides.Recommended dishesGravy, Fish & Chips
There are fish and chip joints, and then there is Len Duckworth's. I've been going here since my childhood. This place has the trifecta in that the fish, the fries, and the gravy are all top tier as long as you dine in. The food gets a little overcooked when doing take out/delivery as the heat has nowhere to escape in the container. Unfortunately, over the years, the prices have gone up. Way up. 5 years ago, a piece of halibut from here was $8. It is now $12.50 in 2023, an increase of over 50%. 3 pieces of halibut, fries, gravy, and a cherry soda costs $60 after tax and tip. Yeah, you heard that right. $60 for fish and chips. It is still the best fish and chips in the city, and possibly the whole country, as I've been to Vancouver and nothing comes close to what is served here. But ten years ago, I would've never imagined paying $60 for a meal here. Unfortunately, premium seafood is now a luxury. It still gets 5 stars just for the quality of the food, but be aware that this is a no longer a cheap place to eat.
My dad turned 80 on Tuesday March 7th and he requested to go to Duck Worths for his birthday lunch. He said this is the best and they did not disappoint. They are in fact the best fish & chips I have ever had! The halibut was not greasy but light and delicious with their homemade tartar sauce and homemade fries were also delicious. Great food & service makes it worth the trip!
