Le Gourmand

My expectations for this high end restaurant are very high based on their history, price point and previous experience. I've been a few times over the years and have always thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Lately it seems the food has changed. This was my 2nd try since late this summer and I was again disappointed. Plates are not as unique and tasty as they used to be. I feel I pay too much for the quantity and quality I'm getting. For instance scallops that have no flavor because they are fried and duck lost in a sea of pepper sauce (sauce tasted like the cheap powder pack at grocery store). Service and everything else is always excellent, I just find the food no longer is up to the standards of a 5 star that I used to get a few years ago.

Each new visit I expect the food to be better but I always leave disappointed. The food is not bad but it could be so much better. The venison was OK but the sauce dominated and drenched everything in my plate. I was aware my order came with blue cheese sauce however a sauce should never be so strong you can smell it three tables away. Prices are reasonable but the quality and menu needs improvement. There were 3 options with cheese, two with Parm and one with blue cheese. My SO does not eat cheese so her options were limited. Wine selection is interesting and the prices are fair which is a nice change from many other places in the area. The outdoor terrace in the back is relaxed and offers plenty of room. A lot of bugs flying around, I spent my evening fishing for flies in my glass of wine. Service was attentive and friendly.

Amazing food and service. The fried chicken with poutine is life changing. Every time we visit Montreal, Le Gourmand is a must!

We really enjoyed our dinner at Le Gourmand. The food was fresh and the dishes innovative. The service was also on point and delightful. Definitely going back to this great find in the West Island.

Absolutely amazing ! Perfect French restaurant experience. You absolutely must wait to see what the chef's choice is before making your selection
