Kennicott Park is a moderate sized neighborhood park in the Kenwood Neighborhood with a great little playground. The playground features a somewhat sprawling play structure with a variety of slides, climbing elements, and overhead features. There are two standalone elements and a set of swings with the Chicago Park standards: toddler, adaptive, and belt seat. The play area is fenced from the street but not fully enclosed and the play surface is wood chips. There are a few benches and the nearby fieldhouse provides access to bathrooms and drinking fountains when open. All in all, this is a great neighborhood playground; highly recommend.
the neighborhood is beautiful. But a 61 year old women was robbed and her two dogs were beaten. Be careful! We need more cameras and stricter laws when criminals are caught. A dream neighborhood is now becoming a nightmare!
Great park equipped with a park district center with numerous activities for kids.
This is a great place for children ages 3 and up with year round indoor activities. Classes are available on the park district website. The playground is excellent and well maintained. The place also has a gym with weights and treadmills. While I could hope for better maintenance of the gym equipment, the other features more than make up for it.
Very nice fieldhouse. Plenty of activities for children and adults. What I really like about it are the activities they have geared to seniors. There are exercises and cooking classes. They don't have a pool, which would be great for seniors to do water aerobics. It is great for summer activities for the children. Field trips and other activities makes for a busy summer. The inside is clean. The exercise room well equipped. Outside play ground. Large vacant grassy lot next door for plenty of outside atrocities.
Kennicott is an amazing CPD jewel with warm, welcoming staff who maintain a community, not just a park. They offer programs for young through old, have a great outside park and plenty of free parking. My whole family has enjoyed their programs 100%.
The park itself is a small field with few trees. All of the activity is within the park district building. Many groups and organizations meet there including New Community Covenant Church Bronzeville. It's a great place for youth as many programs held are geared towards them. The park also includes a Divvy bike share station.
I just stopped by to drop off some skating flyers. I guess you can’t hand someone something fifteen minutes before you supposedly open. Then why do you have the door unlocked?!!? It’s quite obvious that the janitor who got the short straw didn’t want to be there this morning. Maybe she should find another job that can utilize her poor customer service. Like a fast food restaurant. I’ll definitely won’t be sending my sons here for anything even though our family is with the University Of Chicago.
I highly recommend this park for prek/3 & 4. Ms. Dakota is very compassionate to teach the little ones. She is very patient and kind. All the kids absolutely love her. She is everyone's favorite. My now 6yr old learnt quite a bit here and made it to the classical school. The director Ms. Shepherd has a desire to see the kids from the south side of Chicago excel in studies. She does above and beyond to make sure the children succeed.
Great place for the kids to have activities to . nice clean atmosphere and the workers are friendly
