The official Chicago Park website describes the Bartelme Park Playground like this: "The children's play area offers ADA accessibility that allows for inventive, non-linear play without traditional play equipment." Inventive, non-linear, and non-traditional are all great adjectives to describe this playground in the West Loop. The fully enclosed playground uses the rubber surface itself as a play element; there are steep inclines and valleys that invite play. Most of the elements are indeed non-traditional. While there are a few slides, there are no swings or monkey bars in this playground. Instead there is elaborate "jungle gym" structure made of belts of black rubber, a rope climbing structure, and a smaller structure for younger children. The play area is fully enclosed and there are several picnic tables that make this a comfortable playground in a new and beautifully landscaped park. The park also includes some interesting, geometric arches that have a gentle water misting feature though they are hard to activate as well as some grassy hills for playing. Highly recommend.
My daughter, dog, and I enjoyed this small park one evening. There is a playground, a lit up walkway, a large steel archway art piece with plenty of sitting for its size and a dog park with a plastic water pool and running water in summers. Our dog enjoyed the park and it was nice to find free poop bags at 2 sides. Small but nice. We 3 will visit again. By the way...paid street parking.
A small contemporary urban park with such a beautiful view. West of the loop, this is a must see for tourists and photographers. Over decades this area has become a warehouse district to now and upscale residential area. There is a children’s playground included.
Took my son here to kill time while we wait on his mom to get off of work. He really enjoyed it. Lot of activities to work on his skills
Great park in the west loop to let our toddler enjoy the playground and dog watch. Fun times in the warmer months with the farmers market and fall time is still great. If only we could solve the mystery of how/ when the metal structure mist. Seen it a few times.
I manage the farmers market held Saturday’s in our beautiful park! During COVID-19 we still had Famers, yoga on the Hill, kids, dogs, families, singles spending time in the Park. The Market received great reviews from the City and shoppers as we were all able to execute safety protocols. Hoping we can get back to ‘normal’ next season.
Bartelme park is very good. It's always happening as many of the activities are planned here like Halloween, diwali, etc. They provide many freebies and chocolates to the kid.
I decided to visit all Chicago public parks with my very active almost 2 yr old. Bartelme park is a nice park with a gated playground for kids and a separate one for your furry friend. It is not a big park. If you want to walk around it would take you approximately half hour to do so. Parking is a hassle and may end up paying. Also for those with little ones the playground is mostly for bigger kids and I didn't see no swings at sight. Playground can get crowded lo n the a.m. and there are a few trees surrounding it but it's mostly exposed.
Very nice and clean park. You should come and get chill.
Really love this place. It's so relaxing and walking distance from Greek town. Perfect for a first time date. Where it really comes alive is at night. It's a photographers paradise and people come here with their dogs. Defitnetly a park to come see.
