Let me start by saying the Kelley House is in a great location. My friend and I have stayed here in the past. This time we decided to stay in a 2 bedroom suite and booked the Wheel House. The only nice thing I can say about the Wheel House is that it has a view of the harbor. As you walk up to the front entrance, you can easily see that it is in desperate need of a paint job. Inside we found the furniture to be outdated, including the kitchen refrigerator and other appliances. The carpet looked like it had not been cleaned in years. The bathrooms were disgusting!!! There was black mold on the doors and spider webs visible throughout the bathroom and on the lamps in the bedrooms. We expressed our concerns to a waitress at the Harbor View Hotel (their sister property) and she put us in touch with the manager (i.e., Kelly O'Hara). Kelly turned out to be our Angel. Although, we were in Edgartown during one of the busiest months and both properties were at capacity, she was able to find us a room at the Harbor View in one of their cottages for 1 night, then a room in the main building for the rest of our stay. It was a great improvement over that dump at the Kelly House. We have always enjoyed our past experiences at the Harbor View and this property never disappoints. It is a bit more pricier than the Kelley House, but as I found out the hard way it is so worth it. Did I mention that they were charging me $1050/night for the 2 bedroom suite at the Kelley House. I hope their management reads this review and spends the extra money to renovate that property, so the accommodations demand that nightly rate.
