I had a good experience here. I stopped by cause I was in the area and this place was highly rated. The place was very clean and bright making for a nice lunch atmosphere. They have patio seating available as well and big windows to people watch or watch traffic while you eat. They do have a small grocery section but it was pretty bare. The lady who took my order was very friendly and had some nice recommendations for food. She was correct on what she told me to order I was not disappointed. If you are near the area and enjoy East African food definitely stop in and give them a try.
Karibu is a great restaurant/coffee shop/grocery, with a variety of unique dishes and delicious drinks at very reasonable prices. The staff are always very polite and great to talk to, making the experience that much better. I love this place and would recommend a visit to anyone.Food: 5/5
Karibu has plenty to choose from in the areas of East African and Mediterranean cuisine. There are a couple of grocery aisles in addition to a restaurant/deli with seating. I ordered the Chooza chicken platter and the lamb gyro. I picked up some pounded yam in the grocery section while my food was being prepared. The chicken platter and gyro were both delicious! The gyro especially had soft pita and a healthy portion of lamb inside.
Stopped by this place a little after opening on a Friday for lunch. The best part? I loved that you could order something adventurous and different or you could order something simple like a burger too. I ordered the Suqaar which came with steak, veggies and Somali rice. It was really good and it was a good amount of food for about $15. I also got a can of soda for a $1. A couple of my friends ordered too. One ordered Sambusas/Samosas which were 3 for $5.90 and another ordered a burger with fries for $12.99. They also have some grocery items you can purchase. The worst part? We did have to wait about 30 minutes for our food. We were hoping to dine in but then we were running late and when it finally came out, we had to pay to go. The good thing was the meals already came in to go boxes so that made it easier to just take it to go. I also am understanding of the time because there was only one person working the register and cooking the meals. When we got there like at 11:38am, the place had just opened at 11:30am and they already had 5 people there. Then you add our 3 meals so I guess the 30 minutes wasn’t terrible. Plus, the gal working was super nice too. I’d go back for sure though.
First time here and I ordered the Nomad's Ari goat meat and Suqaar Bowl beef to try. Both were delicious and very well seasoned. The goat meat was my favorite. Very tender and moist. Only minor complaint was the rice was a little stale and hard, but overall each tasted great. Would definitely come back here again.Food: 4/5
Giving this place a 5/5 stars wouldn’t be enough to describe my experience at Karibu. As you can see from the photo. From the warm atmosphere to the stellar customer service. When I walked in, I was greeted and asked what I wanted to eat, I was indecisive and hesitant given that it was my first time at Karibu. While speaking to the employee, they told me their best sellers as well as what goes well together. I got the Philly cheesesteak and WOW! What can I say, it was amazing. The way the cheese melts into the bun and the meat, the green peppers and onions cooked to perfection. Not to mention meat is halal! If you are in the mood for a feel good meal, for any occasion please stop by Karibu. You will not regret it :
Some regulars recommended the Philly. Blew me away, one sandwich was enough for my friend and I to split. I love the free refills! Went back a 2nd time, got the Safari Roll.
I recommend the Nomad’s Ari and Beef Suqaar. Both dishes were tasteful, especially the Nomad’s Ari. Great location, good service, and I would go here again.
Finally went to try out Karibu and ohhhh boy i should have done it sooner. Ordered the wings and Philly cheesesteak. All of it was super delicious and the wing sauce was amazing the wings were huge. Philly cheesesteak was super good and had perfect taste. Im definitely coming back. This place will not disappoint. :
Wow! We stopped in for some dinner that exceeded all expectations. The outdoor seating was super nice to have on a great summer night, and we loved everything we tried on the menu which was almost everything! Our favorites were the Safari Rolls, specifically the chicken one, which was amazingly fresh, flavorful, and unique. I would gladly return for some great Afro/Somalian food the next time I was in the area, and will encourage everyone to do the same! Parking: Small lot adjacent to the building, but we parked down the street at Saint Paul Brewing and walked over after some drinks!
