Decently cute cafe in a nice part of town! Our waitress was friendly, and the service was fast. Despite the menu being somewhat small and limited, we both found something we liked. The chili was full of flavor, and while I normally don’t go for chicken sandwiches, I really enjoyed the Eight Ball Deluxe. The chicken was perfectly tender and moist!
Honestly, I had pretty low expectations for the restaurant due to the menu being fairly short and due to how empty it was on a Saturday but the food was amazing !! My friend and I went here due to a few other options being closed, and I was very pleased with my experience. The waiter was extremely nice and attentive. My friend and I were super indecisive and he was very patient with us and explained everything thoroughly. I ordered the Nachos and my friend order the wings and fries. The food came out relatively quickly and it was hot and delicious!! Everything about the meal and drinks were perfect! I would highly recommend and would definitely return.
We stopped in to the Loon Cafe before heading to the Xcel for a concert. From the moment we walked in, you could feel the warm and relaxed atmosphere. We were seated right away and our server was so friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! I ordered the grilled cheese with a cup of the soup of the day, which was baked potato soup. Amazing experience overall! We will definitely be visiting the Loon Cafe again.
If you've not been to The Loon Cafe in St Paul, great place, awesome food, and tremendous service... Cheryl and Laurie started the evening off with some Grape Apes... a drink of which the Loon is the home of... we ordered the Walleye Fingers and Fries to start with - very tasty. Laurie ordered Chicken Fingers and fries from the appetizer menu for her meal, easily enough for a meal and very good. Cheryl ordered the Loon Addict Special- lightly breaded chicken breast grilled and topped with fresh mushrooms, melted Swiss cheese, shredded lettuce and mayo on a toasted onion bun. She normally doesn't get overly excited about chicken, but loved it. Jerry and I both ordered a full rack of Ribs... the Ribs were to die for... fall off the bone and with excellent flavor-didnt even use the sause - which was also excellent dipped my fries in it. My Loon Manhattans were excellent... fast attentive service and a great atmosphere. Awesome time all around and will be goingback!!!
Eat and spend some quality time at Loon. The menu may be small, but there are selections for a range of people and tastes. Several are gluten-free and just as tasty. Very comfortable and easy going, yet right on point in quality ingredients and their creative use. Also an excellent place for light food and drink. Great creative drinks and plenty of locals on tap. In the old Hamm building an easy walk to theatre, sports and other destinations. Service superb with personable knowledgeable people that put you first. You are not hurried and can spend time with friends and family.
Great outdoor patio with live music on Thursdays from 6-8. Highly recommend the nachos, they were outstanding! Total bill for appetizer & cocktail was $26. Plenty of nearby street parking, only $1.99 for 2 hours.
Located in the Historic Hamm Building, Loon Cafe St. Paul was a pleasant experience. We started off with some drinks including a Buddy's Grape Soda, a draft Stella Artois, and the famous Grape Ape. We followed up the drinks with some food. We had an amazing Loon Addict Special which is a chicken sandwich with mushrooms, Swiss cheese, mayo and lettuce on an onion bun. We also shared an order of Walley Fingers which was served with jalapeño tartar sauce which offered hints of heat but was not too overwhelming and fries with their special sauce. The food was incredible and the service was equally as good. Our waitress was top notch and we were great by the bartender the moment we stepped in the door. Stop in the next time you are in the area.
Great location when you want to have dinner before a show at the Palace. Our party of 2 was seated right away when we arrived around 6pm on a Saturday night. Friendly and efficient staff. I had the fried walleye sandwich and fries, both very tasty. Sadly, the coleslaw was bland and in need of some vinegar. The wine Sauvignon Blanc I had was okay, not great. Loon Cafe is conveniently located near the Palace.
I came here for happy hour with a group of people and we ordered a variety of drinks and food. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and the dry rub wings were definitely my favorite! They were moist on the inside and had this really nice crunchy exterior too. This would be a good spot if you were looking to go out with some coworkers or a group of friends.
This was an excellent stop for us! Great atmosphere and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the sirloin steak chili spicy-ish and the chicken sandwich. The only improvement I would recommend is to increase the size of your tap list. Service was also very good. Check them out next time you're downtown!Food: 5/5
