We used to love Kanpai. We went there this weekend for my partners birthday with a total of 7 of us. The food was pretty good for the 2 of us not for our whole table though but the service was horrible. Not once in the 2 hrs we were there did they even clear one dish from our table. We had bowls from the free appetizers (miso soup) etc still piled up on our table until we got our bills and not to mention everything else that 7 ppl will accumulate over 2 hrs of food. They forgot people's drinks. Never came back to ask how the food was. I had to flag a server down by yelling excuse me to get something for my meal because she didn't even make eye contact on her way by. There were 3 servers on our table and it was complete chaos. We never got asked to replenish our drinks. Which they could have made a lot more money off of our table if they had. It was not busy enough for this kind of garbage service. We noticed a lot of servers standing around when they should be hustling. We had to finally ask for them to clean our table and bring bills. That was a mess. Mostly everyone's orders were messed up on their bill. They had to ask us who was paying together but that was pretty clear in the beginning since we ordered together and pointed out who was ordering together (3 couples and 1 single) This should have been sorted out before we had to pay. Unfortunately this isn't the first of horrible service from this restaurant for me and for a couple others. We wanted to give this place another shot since we like the atmosphere and the food. We won't be returning. It's very sad that this place went so downhill.

This place is one of our favorite restaurant in Moncton. Nice selection of sake. The sushis were delightful. We tried several appetizer/shareable plates and we were never disappointed. The tuna and salmon tataki are a must .
