We tried a selection of their cream choux, which was still slightly crunchy despite having been refrigerated from early afternoon to late evening. I personally liked the chestnut and ube cheesecake flavours, but all of them were pretty good. They were light, well-filled, and not overly sweet. We also bought a few individual cake slices, which were decent. Japanese-style cakes that aren't overly sweet or heavy. They also served drinks, but we didn't order any. Everything we bought was nicely packaged. It was fairly busy when we went in the afternoon, but it was a Saturday and Christmas Eve, so definitely understandable! The store is small, but clean and bright. The cafe is located in the new shopping plaza, so parking was readily available.
So yummy!! The strawberry cake was one of the most delicious strawberry shortcake cakes I’ve ever had. The chestnut one is also really unique and tasty. The Choux are also super yummy, with the outside being crunchy and soft at the same time is that even possible!!
Great place for individually sliced cakes and eclairs. Flavours are Japanese/Asian based. Satisfies the criteria of being flavourful and "not too sweet" as most Asians prefer. Eclairs/choux not as impressive in presentation as nugateau downtown Toronto but really delivers on flavour. Lots of flavours to choose from if you go during the earlier hours. Familiar flavours and classic twists are featured daily. The sponge layer in the cake is made quite fresh. We ordered a strawberry cake from their neighbour Evana and their cake was dense as heck but Kanae truly does make it soft and fluffy. Will come back again for future treats!
Small size eclairs are perfect for snacks. We ordered chestnut, hazelnut, ube, grape, mango and pistachio with raspberry. The crunch bakery was the part I enjoyed the most. The hazelnut topping was also the highlight but a bit too sweet. $22 for 6 is acceptable price, but please note that they are smaller than the usual ones. Will try other flavours next time
Newly open Japanese Pastry shop. Have varieties of visually pleasing pastries. Good tasting and decently priced about $4.50 per piece. The Kanae cakes are said to be originated from Hokkaido, Japan, which is a upside where quality is first.
Tried this little dessert place while waiting for hotpot and oh my what a gem! Had the ube and fruit island cake slices came up to $17.74 for both. It was light, creamy, and overall delicious! Only downside would be the price; however, I would be willing to pay for it again because it tastes that good. Probably gonna order a full sized cake for my birthday. I can’t wait to try their other stuff!
Relatively new Japanese dessert spot! Tried a variety of their products including cream choux, cake slices, & drinks. The flavours were all amazing & super tasty! My favourites were the cream choux balls & chestnut earl grey cake def eat them fresh!! Service was also super friendly & welcoming! The store is clean & well-lit with super cute decor.
Bought the choux cream puffs! Delectable flavours, smooth transactions nice service. I definitely recommend trying all the flavours and stopping by this wonderful Japanese pastry store!
We walked by this new bakery by accident. The store was selling Japanese and crunchy version of eclair/ cream puff. Over all the taste and $4 price are reasonable as we can taste the whipping cream and topping, but the pastry is definitely not crunchy as promoted maybe because we got ours and ate them late at 3pm. The staff probably can't speak English, so we grabbed a brochure to understand what we were eating.
If you are looking for not too overly sweet desserts, then this is a must try! I’ve tried their Yuzu Cheese Cloud and Ube & Taro cake slices and I’m in love They were light, and not too sweet at all. You can definitely taste the flavours also. Their cream choux’s were tasty too, but they don’t last, you have to eat them right away as they lose their crispiness.
