We came here for their Valentine's Day special. Even though it was a 4 course dinner, the appetizer portions were on the smaller side so we ended up ordering an extra plate of Korean chicken. Food was very well made and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish, especially the short ribs! We will have to come back to try different things on their menu!
First time recommended to come here by a friend, and wow was our group in for a huge surprise. This place is by far one of the greatest foods in Calgary to experience. The short ribs were so juicy and tender, it melts in your mouth. The deep fried chicken is very soft in the inside and has perfect crisp on the outside. The pizza is well presented and is packed with many flavors. JinBar exceeded my expectation and would definitely be coming back for more.
Great gem tucked right outside of the downtown core. Looks ok from the outside but upon entering the industrial feel was very inviting. We were attended to right away. Food came quickly and the suggestions for the Brussels sprouts and the fried shrimp + chicken appetizer were nice suggestions. Ordered the Bulgogi pizza and it was tasty and fresh. Everything was served nice and piping hot as they were supposed to. Drinks took a little longer to arrive than they should but the beer were good too. Desserts were decent. Great ambience, ample parking at rear, might be hard to find the restaurant for first timers. Food was great. Though I find it a bit on the expensive side. Well worth it for a special night out.
Finally got a chance to visit this restaurant after my wife came with her friends. We came here for the Valentine's tasting menu and all the dishes were prepared and presented to perfection. The Angus Short Rib was so tasty we wanted more! Love the interior design as soon as we entered it felt very pleasant. Definitely should take extra time and make sure you have adequate time to find parking during peak hours if you were to visit this place.
My husband has wanted to come here for awhile! Everything we had was delicious. The sweet corn and honey butter fries pizza was THE best pizza we’ve had in Calgary. It was the star of our meal, but everything was overwhelming delicious we had the fried chicken and a taco as well! The staff were wonderful as well! We will definitely be coming back in the near future to try other items on the menu!
Everyone around us ha been raving about good the fried chicken at this restaurant was so we were looking forward to trying it. Once we tried it we found out why it was everyone's fave. The fried chicken only uses dark meat with no bone in. Each piece of chicken also had a piece of skin attached to it, thus creating the most delicious piece of meat and crispy fried chicken skin you had ever had. The chicken was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside, who wouldn't love that? An order of chicken came with 4-5 pieces of chicken but it didn't feel like you got much meat. It definitely wasn't very filling. We had ordered the family meal that also came with popcorn chicken, fries and a side salad. The salad was just chopped up head of lettuce with some halved cherry tomatoes, nothing too special. The popcorn chicken was our favourite of all. Loved the bits of crispy rice cakes and no surprise but the popcorn chicken was also all dark meat. The flavouring was very yummy, had bite but not too spicy. The fries comes seasoned and a side of spicy ketchup. The ketchup sure had bite. Overall, gave a 4 only because we didn't feel the value was there for what we got. But other than that the food was good, don't know if we'll be back for the fried chicken, but maybe to try something else on the menu.
Love the fried chicken, especially the buldak flavor, and Brussels sprouts. The crispy tofu was flavorless. The food portions were small with the price you paid for. Overall, it’s just okay. Nothing special that make you want to come back again.Recommended dishesKorean Fried Chicken
Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally made it. Started with the fried Tteokbokki which was delicious. Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Next up was a bulgogi taco. Nothing special here but still very tasty. The taco shell is warm and soft and didn't run the dish like it can when not done right. This was followed by Dill and Garlic Roasted Cauliflower. Another tasty dish and unique flavor with the red curry. The main event was the fried chicken. I really wanted to try the gochujang flavor but didn't think my 4 year old could handle the spice so we went with the honey garlic on recommendation from the waiter. This might be the best fried chicken I've had in a long time. The outside is perfectly crispy and the batter is not too thick. The inside is super moist and cooked to perfection. I'll have to go back next time I'm in town to try the gochujang. We finished the meal with the condensed milk ice cream. I didn't taste the condensed milk much, it mostly just tasted of vanilla. We really wanted to try the bulgogi pizza but would not have finished it. I wish they made an individual sized one since everything else was "tapas-like". Gave it 4 stars due to price as others mentioned would give 4.5 if I could. Portion sizes are quite small for the price but that should be expected especially with the current food costs. This is upscale Korean pub food and overall we were very pleased with the food and the service. The quality of the food definitely reflects the price, but it's still an expensive dinner.
Was able to catch up with some friends over some food and drinks at JINBAR. The room and atmosphere was nice. Service was good. We ordered the Honey Butter Potato Chips, Green Mango Slaw, the Beef Bulgogi and Cajun Fried Chicken tacos, the Honey Garlic Butter and Dragon Breath Fried Chicken, and and finishing with Warm Chocolate Lava Cake. All the items were tasty enough. The Fried Chicken was the highlights for myself. As stated in other reviews, the portions are small but the food, service, and atmosphere was good. The price is the price and if you eat a lot you might be disappointed. But if you are looking to try some small dishes and have some drinks in a nice chill spot - I would recommend checking out Jinbar.
Been here a few times now and every time I leave wanting more. Of course, their chicken is delicious and love the creative take on their pizza. Who would’ve thought chips on za would taste so good?! Lots of gluten free options for a small up charge, which was appreciated. Every bite is so satisfying - totally worth the food coma post-meal
