Story

Illahee State Park is a 75acre Washington state park located in the hamlet of Illahee, just north of East Bremerton, on Port Orchard Bay, part of Puget Sound. The word "Illahee" means earth or country in the Native language Chinuk Wawa. The park harbors one of the country's oldest Pacific yews, which has been standing for approximately 400 years. The park was acquired in seven parcels between 1934 and 1954. Park activities include picnicking, camping, hiking, boating, and shellfish harvesting.

This park has the best staff, sight seeing, and campground in all of Kitsap. Their bathrooms and facilities are always maintained, clean, and stocked. Beautiful landscaping that is done in a way that works with the natural flow of things. The trail network is awesome, though it isn't a super long hike. You can enter at the park, go to the side of the office, up behind the guns, down by the playfield, across the ball field, through the campground, and down to the beach. At the beach, walk right along the shore until you get to Sandy Beach. No rocks, shells, or trash. Very private & there's an out house available during in season. When you come back up be sure to check out the two shelter areas. Nice place to stop and enjoy the beauty. Some trail networks around these facilities as well. You can rent these spaces for a day and it's actually affordable!! Awesome grills and power outlets come with rental. The campground has 2 hiker/biker spots, over 25 primitive spots, 2 spots with power hookups, and a disabled spot. This park is gorgeous! Highly recommend

I walk here from my house a few times a week, its a great place to toss on some headphones and unwind. Very Beautiful scenery, and its 100% free to walk in.

It’s an alright park. Needs to be updated. There are a few short trials that just loop around the center of the park. Playground needs new equipment. If you plan on going to the beach, don’t go at high tide, lol it won’t be there! Other than that, it’s not a bad place. Didn’t get to check out the camping situation, but it looked pretty tightly packed with not a lot of room between campsites. Good place for a picnic or short walk though

It's a good place to go if you have a pass and like to walk trails not really dog friendly seeing as how they have new rules there for them

Beautiful park. Go down to the dock and watch sea lions and seals and enjoy the view. Go at low tide so there is beach to walk on. I'd give it 5 stars except as a full time RV-r, I have to say it is VERY unlikely you will find one of the only two full hookup sites available during the season where you cannot make reservations (fall to spring). The only two sites are usually occupied by run down RVs who maximize time they stay, then move to other parks or an open simple campsite for a few days and then move back in to the full hookup sites. I don't have anything against people who live how they have to. Just be aware you likely won't get hookups at this site unless you make reservations during the peak seasons. There are a few other sites within an hour or less where you can find hookups at other state parks. If I owned a boat, this is a park I'd add to the list to moor at. A great place to walk the dogs and if I had time, I'd love to try for a salmon or cutthroat or steelhead from the dock or shore. Be sure to have your annual access park pass and appropriate licenses for shellfish or fishing! BEAUTIFUL IN THE FALL with the changing maple leaves. Heavily treed park with some older large timber. Have good brakes on your car or RV! quite a few steep hills and careful driving through the camping area. It's a little tight.
