IKEA Whitby - Pick-up and order point

I honestly thought this was just order location.. You pick up and leave. But there is a small gallery here and i love it! The collection changes all the time so it gives you a good idea. I wish it was a full location though, since i hate driving out to north york just to pick up a couple of things. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great if you are buying something from Ikea but don't want to have to drive to the main store. You can still come here to see some furniture as well as kitchen setups. They also have the computers so you can design your kitchen. As a bonus, they sell their famous meatballs frozen as well as the gravy mix that you can buy and make at home.

I had no idea you could shop here! I though it was just a pick-up point for orders, but they actually have a show room and select pieces can be bought and taken same day. Mostly smaller items like textiles and accessories but some furniture pieces like book shelves and end tables too. I tried a package of the organic (vegan!) gummy candies from their small pantry section and they were shockingly good.

I ordered a closet system in store with a sales associate and paid at the store with my Visa. My boyfriend picked it up once it arrived with the original receipt when he came home with it, they only gave him the packing slip and not the original receipt. I went to return it as it wasn’t fully functional for our space within a week of pick up. I explained to the manager and sales associate that the original receipt was not given back only the packing slip (a mistake on their end, which happens) I showed them my Visa bill online, the emailed receipt(s)from IKEA and the pick up emailed receipt, however, they would not do the return. I called the IKEA customer service line and they agreed the manager could of returned it for me but they couldn’t help me as it was the managers final decision. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with IKEA and the issue was escalated throughout until I was given a reference number and they did the return. All the customer service representative did was look up my original receipt in the system as I had the date and time of purchase. I spent 2 hours at the store, no customer service and I felt like I was in the wrong the entire time. In the end, I will not shop here again!

Very friendly helpful staff. Awesome to do returns there instead of driving all the way to the city. They also have a surprising amount of stock
