Story

This historic, Art Deco inspired, hotel is located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee's art and financial district. Our suites are spacious, 450 to 720 sq ft. We are located in the middle of a very walk friendly and restaurant rich neighborhood. We are close to the lake front, Milwaukee Art Museum, Harley Davidson Museum and the Frontier Airlines/Wisconsin Center.
Hotel Metro has become one of the most beloved hotels in downtown Milwaukee, WI.

Since its grand opening in 1998, our boutique property has been praised as “one of the top hotels in the world” by Travel + Leisure magazine, and The New York Times recommended Metro as “where to stay” in Milwaukee. Most recently, we were honored with the 2013 Excellence Award from TripAdvisor.

Thanks to our ongoing eco-friendly initiatives, Hotel Metro has become the first hotel in Milwaukee to be certified by Travel Green Wisconsin. The John Mariner building that house Hotel Metro is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and we are a proud member of Historic Hotels of America.

Greeted by a valet to park our car waited a long time for him to show up.  When he did he made my wife take her bags out of the car.  He was not friendly at all.  The front desk was matter of fact, and and not very friendly.   The room was nice and big, but getting dated.  There were stains on the end table and stains on the curtains.  Bathroom was nice.  The thermostat did not work and we could not get the room cooler than 74 degrees ( Outside temp was low 40"s).  The banging from the radiator kept my wife up all night.   Being a downtown hotel we might have thought that the windows would be thick enough to cancel out the street noise from neighboring night clubs, but no.  Location is great, but that does not make up for the lack of everything else.  for the price I'll stay at the Phister next time.  I had heard great things about this place, but I wonder if there was a management change.

Great location for access to many restaurants downtown. The pictures of the rooms make the appear nicer than they are. I would likely stay somewhere else if visiting Milwaukee again.

It was ok. Quaint and retro. My major issue was a banging noise at night that went on for quite some time at nights. seemed like it was pipes. They were kind enough to call a cab for me, hold my luggage after checkout and a big plus is they take room tips on card.

Hotel Metro is amazing! The cheapest room when we booked was the King Spa, and it was wonderful. The room was clean, spacious, and easy to organize our bags within the closet space provided. We have often eaten at Pastiche, the restaurant on the first floor that provides the room service, and it has consistently been the best food I've ever had. We had a great meal there, then went upstairs to the rooftop bar, which is called Zen on 7. My only complaint from the entire weekend would be the attitude of the bartender when we were ordering. We were celebrating our anniversary and we wanted to order some nice cocktails while we enjoyed the view over the city, and we asked her if she had a cocktail list, and all she said was "No." She didn't offer any suggestions or even act like she was willing to make us drinks. We thought maybe it was just us, but we saw two other couples receive the same treatment from her. If you're paying that much for drinks, I think you should be able to ask your bartender for suggestions. Other than that, the view over the city was beautiful, and the ambiance of the garden was super romantic. I'd stay there again, I would just make sure you know what kind of cocktail you want to order before you go to the rooftop bar.

My room wasn't ready when I got there, the shower hot water was cold, mini bar very expansive. Overall my stay was peaceful, very quit for a Saturday night
