We came on the weekday so we enjoyed the 20% off not on soup base nor on those buy one get one free. It’s the first time and our final bill is $148 after tax for 2 person without discount. So I had to go back and ask what I was told on the phone. Turns out I need to share it on red book or google during meal time to get 20% off. And the first server wearing a mask who attended us got an attitude. She got the job done but just talks with an attitude. The experience is unique. It’s a Wednesday 6pm and we were the only customer after another couple left. Very mild spicy is too spicy for me. Fried dishes are way too oily. The plum drink tastes off so don’t order that. They charge $3.49 for sauce. I believe the food is higher quality from what their website says but I wonder how they could keep food fresh when the flow is so slow.
Located in a very unassuming spot, a bit set back from Kinsgway. This hot pot place has a bank of refrigerators that you can pick all of your skewers from but you can also order items like the Prime beef slices of the deep fried buns with condensed milk. We picked a Tom Yum broth along with their special mixed bone broth. The tom yum was quite spicy but their special mixed bone broth was quite good. Things add up quickly because you pay per skewer they add up how nanny skewers you had at the end of your meal. Their sauce station is also extra and our meal for 2 came up to about $100. Liked their fish-shaped fish tofu and the passion fruit drink. Pretty good skewer selection. A bit too much cilantro in the beef and cilantro skewer. Interior had a bit of a cave-like vibe despite it being rather spacious. Service was friendly enough.
The place is very conveniently located near metrotown area but has free parking in 2 parking lots next to it. There was no line and the food was pretty good quality for an authentic china hotpot place. They have a lot of things I look for that make a real hotpot restaurant great - plenty options at an open sauce bar, self-order menu QR code, self-serve to pick skewers and dishes up color coded like the system in conveyor belt sushi restaurants, skewer hotpot in combo with fried/cooked snack options, and finally superior service from well-mannered staff. If you are a foodie you have to come here !
Came to Hot Pot Master for Father's Day dinner. Restaurant is spacious, bright and clean. Staff is very friendly and very helpful in explaining the menu and the specials. Loved the fact that it's self serve. You pick the broth, be warned the Spicy broth, even less hot option is still very spicy!!! Than you go to the fridge section where all the food options are kept and take what you want. They charge per amount of skewers. Everything tasted great! Sorry for bad pictures. Was too busy eating that I forgot to take good pictures of the food we ordered.
Great food and excellent service. I hope they have more selections.Food: 5/5
The food it so yummy, the ingredients are fresh, the service is good, the soup base is so good, and the deserts! It is so delicious and the environment is good and tidy too. Also the price is very reasonable. Highly recommend! I will definitely come again!Food: 5/5
Hidden gem located on Kingsway. The soup base was very flavourful. Lots of choices in food selections. Definitely gets busier as it gets later. If you don’t want to line up, make sure to go earlier. Service was attentive and good. Will definitely be back.
Amazing soup base, meat and skewers were great as well. Bit more on the pricier end, but definitely an enjoyable meal.Food: 5/5
The food it so yummy, the ingredients are fresh, the service is good, my foreigner friends all enjoy the soup base, the deserts and the dipping source! The environment is good and tidy! The price is very reasonable. Highly recommend! Parking: Enough space to park.
The service was excellent. One guy just doing the best he can all by himself and a cook in the kitchen and another doing skewers. The place looks nice but it’s not the kind of place an older person like my self could really enjoy because of the hard bench seating. It is different from other hot pots or ma lat soup places. It’s almost like a hybrid of the two of them where some of the meat slices are placed by ordering online with the soup options and some cooked snacks like their popular fried pork with chili spice . The non cooked items like veggies and tripe and anything that could be put on a skewer were in an area behind a refrigerated display in the back. Each skewer stick is 69cents. For example a frog leg would have three skewers .69x3. A dish of frozen tofu about $6 and so on. The condiments bar is not free it’s about 4-5$. Overall it would be very expensive to eat here but if you have instagram and don’t mind the publicity or suing it and having data tracked the you can post three pics within 30 minutes of dining there and tagging them to get 20% discount on the bill. There were also some happy hour specials and two for one deals on sliced beef and beers so it came to about $50-60 per person . Without those deals it’s a lot more and I wouldn’t normally go here. However how can you blame them? Vancouver and it’s high rents and higher cost of staffing don’t help restaurants very much sadly. Then there’s tipping and taxes which these days in our economy result in customers being extra picky where and when they decide to spend their hard earned money. I wish them luck. It’s unique and the soup flavour is very very good, but I’m wondering if it’s a packaged soup base from China. So with that I wonder how good the soup bases are with ingredients. I’m always wondering about that and it’s a reason why I don’t go to many hot pot or soup places unless it’s locally made soups, which many are not. This is a franchised business so I’m guessing the soup bases come from a factory somewhere. I’ll leave it up to you to decide and I hope you enjoy this place. Again the service was great!
