Holiday Inn Express & Suites Alpena - Downtown

What a great experience this hotel was! So clean, the place looked as if it was just built! Our room was spacious and had everything we could need. Their service was excellent! Couldn't ask for a better hotel.

The room was clean and functioned properly. The breakfast was great, eggs and meats, not just muffins and waffles.

Such a great stay! I wanted to stay longer. The two gals that I saw most often, Christina and gal with blue hair, were amazing and very helpful. Their recommendations to local eateries were spot on. Staff at breakfast were helpful and very professional. Would recommend this location as it sits along the Thunder Bay River.

Booked through Amex Travel. When I checked in, the hotel never mentioned they didn’t have the two-queen room booked weeks in advance. Instead we were given a pull out couch. When I went back to the front desk, I was put on the phone with AGM Mallory who told me she’s not supposed to speak to guests and that we could either accept the room or cancel the reservation at 8pm on a Saturday night in a small town. She said they were “overbooked” and believe the pull out couch is “just as good” as a second bed. I also paid a premium for a “river view” which we didn’t have either. The hotel general manager’s business card Ms Radle is included with your room key, so I reached out and they also never bothered to contact me. 2nd stay at this property and I won’t be back.
