Holiday Inn Express Jamestown

I was aware that this hotel is undergoing a huge renovation and got a discount. Fitness center and kitchen are open. Pool and hot tub area closed. Check-in and breakfast service was excellent. Good food also. Location is right off of the freeway, but other than a Pizza Ranch next door and a McDonald's there is not much around. No area to walk.

I am very disappointed with this hotel experience.nnAt the time of booking, there was absolutely no information anywhere that renovation work was taking place in the hotel. I could understand if the construction had been on another floor, but instead we literally had to walk through piles of construction materials just to reach our room.nEven worse, there was a strong smell of paint and acetone everywhere from the lobby all the way to our room. It was very uncomfortable and unacceptable for guests.nThe internet connection was also very unstable. At first, we could not connect at all. After calling the front desk, they suggested another way to connect, but the connection kept dropping every 10–15 minutes. No real solution was provided.nWhen we asked why renovation work had not been mentioned during booking, the staff insisted that the information was listed on Booking.com. However, after searching for about 10 minutes, even they could not find any mention of it.nInstead, they offered us a room in another hotel connected to their property, but it was clearly a cheaper hotel with a lower rating. When I asked about compensation, they offered only a $6 discount if we moved to the other hotel. This was not acceptable, so we canceled the reservation.nAfter a long and tiring day, this situation was extremely frustrating and disappointing.nnI do not recommend staying here.

Needs to be shut down until renovations are complete. The bed was clean, everything else was terrible and everything had a bad odor. This hotel is currently under renovations and the front of the hotel looks like a garbage dump as of 4/30. I thought I was at the wrong place and had to double check the address when I arrived.nAvoid this until their renovation is complete. Shame on the owners for keeping it open. Nice enough staff, but do not stay here until they are done.

Staff was nice. Hallways were filthy. Could use an update everywhere. Our room didn't have blinds to keep out most of the light. One window didn't close all the way so we had to listen to the semi noise on the interstate all night. But the breakfast was good.

Edit: was in contact with the manager and got the issues resolved. Manager was very apologetic and made sure I felt taken care of.nnI stayed at this hotel because I live 40 miles from job and we had a massive snowstorm trap me in town. I paid 140 bucks for one night only to get off the elevator to a war zone. No heads up that they were remodeling, no offer to put me on a different floor. I checked in at 1am and the crew was there by 7 running saws, blasting music and hollering down the hallway at each other. I finally gave up trying to sleep around 9 and just left. Absolutely the worst hotel experience I've ever had.
